I think your comparison of circumstances is quite correct. However I am living in the far south (as far as you can speak of that in the Netherlands 🙄 ) with German Eifel and Belgium Ardennes in less than an hour drive away. I have been riding for years without audible guidance, so I am probably more used to do without it than many others. But in my experience, the more unpredictable the road gets, the better it is to look at the map at your own chosen time. That gives you knowledge about the road ahead and prevents having to look at the screen when it is necessary to have eyes on the road. I ride in landscape mode, so I have better sight on side roads too.

@joncox, The integration of the cheap joystick looks great! The recess gives a nice method of glueing in the rubber. I will definitely try that some time!

If I may make a suggestion:
BarButtons uses a schema to combine multiple buttons to less pins. Your design needs a full pin for each button. BarButtons programming design allows for additional buttons. I am thinking:

separate volume buttons a button to easily switch between a navigation or a media keymap a Push-To-Talk button for Zello or likewise apps

This is especially useful since the joystick leaves a lot of space for additional keys 😉

I also an advanced Tripy user and use the Tripy for trips and events with the oldtimer club. The roadbooks, the Tripy can make are great.
The idea from @Jabp is just marvelous. Option for "no map" and the possibility to print a roadbook would be great. Hopfully they put it some where on the roadmap of Next Navigation app.

just download them from wikiloc (in gpx format) and upload them to MRA routeplanner.

A question about the timeline in this project, because yesterday there was spontaneously exactly that again.

Guten Morgen Michael,
eine Frage zum zeitlichen Ablauf in diesem Projekt, denn gestern gab es spontan wieder genau das.

Schnell klick zum Ziel und los, nur mein Freund und so geht es wohl sehr viele andere kennen genau diesen Unterschied nicht.

Route = 1 gerader Verlauf Strecke = Track 2,3,4 Kurvenreich

Viele auch wohl sehr viele Kunden der MRA Denke Sie fahren bei Kurvenreich (2,3,4) auch eine Route, wer liest schon ein Handbuch.

Das ist passiert:

Der Klick war eine Strecke = Track (2) zum Ziel und es kam wie es kommen musste, er kam ab von der Strecke ohne es bewusst zu tun und er wurde über die Ansage und Bildschirm unendlich lange gebeten zurück zu fahren. Er war frustriert und unglücklich denn er fuhr vorne.

Nach einem spontanen Tankstop bin ich dann doch wieder vorne gefahren, habe versucht ihm das aber kurz zu erklärt, er fasste sich an den Helm und schüttelte nur noch den Kopf …

Auch Abends beim Bier hat es zu einer längeren Diskussion geführt. …
