      Experience with MRA

Hi. I drove 5300 km only with MRA,:-) Garmin was there as a backup but was never used. The journey went
via Austria, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, North Herzecovina, Bosnia, CroatiTa, Italy back to Switzerland.

As a device I have a Huawei P30 Pro. Unfortunately, I also drove a few days in the rain and the mobile did a great job.
Normal rain does not disturb the display, large drops can be registered as input which rarely happened.
Charging was done via the USB socket. MRA draws quite a bit of power, without charging 5 hours are possible then there is still 20% battery left.
The P30Pro does not exactly have a small battery.

I deliberately drove permanently offline, although I had a TravelSIM. Yes, you should download the route sonnst you are looking for
an open network which is not always easy 🙂
Route planning is always done in the hotel with WLAN on a MS Surface tablet which makes it easier from the size.

      Positives and negatives:

      Navigation APP:
-Sometimes very slow. Offline. 250m left turn although I am already at the turn. The impatient behind me quit that with honking. It was not due to GPS reception,
I have checked several times using GPS app.
-Exit from the route, and re-enter. "Route is calculated" App hangs. After a few hundred meters, the app catches again.
-I get lost and have no idea where I am. Zooming out works, but the orientation of the map is no longer correct. The center button
would be extremely useful here because suddenly north is no longer up.
-POI. I am looking for a hotel. Of course in the direction where I want to go. Here it would be cool if the hotels would be displayed on the map.

-Route was left!!!!!! Here is missing the function "Recalculate Yes or No" A killer feature which must be installed!!!!

      MyRouteApp:

      • Set waypoints without integrating them into the navigation. Like in Basecamp. Set multiple WP, make them route and save as standalone route.
-simple display of multiple routes as in Basecamp. E.g. A: nice weather B: rain. This function is available but only ONE can be edited.
        -Can start your own WP
        -Favorites in categories

So, I apologize, much text 🙂

Conclusion: I would certainly not buy a Garmin again. My P30 Pro is a top Devise, certainly a device of the upper price range but it's worth it. With the https://www.travsim.de/
      equipped makes traveling fun.

What remains is the disadvantage that my P30 Pro does not recognize the glove. However, this is a HW problem and MRA can not do anything.

    • MRA Navigation APP

Hello, the season is almost over at least in Switzerland and I have driven more than 6000km with MRA Navigation on my Huawei P30 Pro. The new navigation app is therefore no longer as urgent as before 🙂

      What I miss:
      -Route recalculation with confirmation
-Offline better response time to turnoffs. These come often very late.
      -Changing the map display
-Tracking. Would be quite cool to run the tracking always in the background and save the data on the mobile. As with Garmin.

Maybe someone of the developers can tell us what to expect in the new version?

@StefanHummelink Thanks Stefan. I open up several planed Routes and on some Routes not even the Start and End Point are flagged as Via Points. I don't know. I'm confused a bit

    • RE: A must-have feature that I miss!

I think that is an extremely bad solution. Here is my route. I avoid point 4 and drive straight ahead. MRA doesn't says turn back, no it says turn left and turn back. Even if I reached my latest WP 8 It tries to navigate me to the WP i missed out. For shure I can use Skip Waypoints automatically but thats not the solution! I want to drive my Route as planed, if I leave it MRA should be able to tell me that.

Has been discused already: https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/318/major-flaw-with-re-routing-in-myroute-navgeplante Route.jpg 1.jpg would be the right way.jpg what the heck, I reached my Ziel!!.jpg Final Route confusing.jpg

also very curious when this major update will come to ios.

and also for my beloved Android powered Huawei P30 Pro 🙂

Why not some beta Version so we can test and help to improve it?

@Con-Hennekens Yes, the app does that. Shows me possible streets where I should turn. However, the turn announcement is only audible. Without the mobile in view, this is very confusing. Cool would be if the Route is changing the color to red!

With so many navigation apps, I knew I couldn't be the only one with this problem. Here from the Kurviger Forum. I have now installed Touch Protect and it seems to do the job 🙂 https://forum.kurviger.de/t/app-avoid-ghost-input-in-rain/2132/6

      @con-hennekens
I just wonder why I should renew my MRA navigation subscription when the officials don't even have the courtesy to inform me whether this horse is dead or not!
Until then, I will not be tire of recommending OSMand, costs no more and offers much more! Download of Routes needs Internet, as MRA, Google Drive ect. Buy once, no subscription required.
MRA offline navigation works, no problem! ONROAD! Made 7500km last Year.

      I get tired of asking...........
      MRA NAVIGATION?
Guess the horse is dead, already grilled, cooked, served as it is

I am also disappointed. The web app seems to be the focus or where the developers know their stuff. That's why I haven't renewed my subscription. I will put my focus on OSMand. Maybe someone from MRA will wake up and at least make a statement. It would not only be nice .....

Ich dachte da kommt was neues? Wäre schwer entäuscht wenn nicht! Spiele gerade etwas mit OSMand herum. Offline Navigation geht.

      @Con-Hennekens
Good question. Can the road be driven on by car? Or what are roads? I unfortunately do not have a track of the route driven in Ukraine (No Internet) also because the recording of tracks at MRA is poorly implemented. The track shown by me is legal to drive on. THAT should perhaps be the indicator whether the road / track is displayed.

What about TET tracks? Are these visible in Garmin / MRA?

PS: My 595 is still running and I have OSM loaded for each of the STAN states. My goal is to navigate only with the mobile.
OSMand makes a good impression, 2 apps make it complicated again.

      @Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master

Friends, I am embarrassed. This road doesn't exist in Basecamp and I didn't realize it. Shame on me. What I did is imported the track into Basecamp and converted it to a route. Looked at it in Bacecamp and it looks like a route.

Now I have loaded the route on my 595, the calculation works and the route can be started.

So again checked the ZĂĽmo, I do not have OSM maps installed.
I am now quite confused, thought I understand it after all these years.

Would Garmin now route me on the route even though it does NOT exist on the map?

Again, apologies and thanks to all.
