The skip waypoint button can be used in 2 ways:
tap it, and tap "confirm" in the popup. If you do not do the latter, it will not skip anything.
long-press it, and it immediately skips to the next waypoint, without any confirmation.
We will see how we get on in a few weeks time but have a backup plan in place as again, I don't have time to troubleshoot whilst on a trip.
I have much experience with Streetpilots and Zumos, and they all need an equal of amount of troubleshooting different things. You just need to get acquainted with your device (and app in case of a smartphone).
