@Routemaster I agree with you 100% but the devs & MRA Illuminati think otherwise so don't hold your breath for any changes Previous forum threads on this topic & info on the secret "contains a number" filter https://forum.myrouteapp.com/post/49593 https://forum.myrouteapp.com/post/51050 As I have said many times, the whole idea of announcements at fixed distances IMO is just totally absurd, the announcements should actually be calculated by estimated time to point, the system has speed & distance so that is a trivial calculation (& don't say speed varies, you can average or extrapolate) e.g. traveling at 10km an hour with the current setup I get a Via point announcement at 2km which is 12 minutes before I arrive at the Via point, you can pick faster speeds but it is still ludicrous, you have to be doing > 120km/hr for the announcement to be heard at a reasonable interval before the point & yes the superfluous pretty useless "you have reached waypoint numberX" why this announcement can't just be modified to actually announce the waypoint name IMO these changes would make MRA better

Thanks to all for the comments and thoughts. I do realize that the current design is not made for that. That is why I was suggesting a sort of super structure. I fully understand that the actual planing has its limits. I was just wondering if there would be a way to easier rough plan, split and then recombine routes/track logs.

@Brian-McG said in Waypoin automatic correction: you then still have to review the route as I say unless you 100% trust the auto snap is going know which road you really want to choose Yes of course, but reviewing waypoints which are already exactly on the road 95% of them is much more comfortable then having to move 95% of them fr them to be perfect . I am certainly NOT claiming that review can be skipped in that case.

I agree. I had many situation where the Road violation warning only pops up during the ride, wheras it should pop up during the planing where it is easy to correct a planing mistake. Comparing different routing options is a nice feature, but I use MyRoutApp for navigation why would I see what TomTom does... Of course this warning only pop up when there is no internet reception and the detour will cost hours .... I remember a situation in Georgia where I had to turn after 2 hours of riding .....

@Martin-Garand said in POI: @Nick-Carthew I understand that. But, maybe with explanation of what I'm trying to do it will be more clear. I'm planning a 3 weeks trip and I made a POI list of all the place I want to go. If the POI are created in the route I'm planning (Manage section), I can always see them. But if I export the POI and reuse them within the Library, I can't see them unless I'm zoomed in really close. So I can't share my POI Library unless I always reuse the first route in which I Managed all the POI. Is there another way to do it ? I understand exactly the issue you are having. Library POIs are only visible from a zoom level of 5 miles (10 km) or closer. If you are zoomed out to get a macro view of your route, you can't see the Library POIs. You need to do what I do. Create a POI folder and in that POI folder create empty routes that only contain "Managed" POIs, which you manually add to the empty route. Now, when you want to create a new route, just "copy" your POI route file and work from that. Now you will be able to see your managed POIs at any zoom level. Any POIs that seem to be cluttering up your route, can be quickly deleted. Going forward, always start your route creation by copy one of your empty route POI files.

Sorry @Nick-Carthew yes your method is simple & doable with the current system but IMO just naming the points with a keyword does not make that particular point stand out enough especially if you have a long route with near the maximum number of points, which is exactly the type of route you will be wanting to use the split tool

funny story by the way: if you are parking your motorbike in Gibraltar on a marked parking lot - police will push you away - because to use dedicated parking lots for motorbikes!! So, to prevent penalties, would be nice, to have such POIs available in MyRoute-App to find them on the street.

@Nick-Carthew Yes, I found that curious too. I consider Google Maps the gold standard for identifying traffic/closures and couldn't find it either. I dug a little deeper and found the following on the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) road status website: [image: 1761919395048-screenshot-207.png] I called their number too. The closure is real with and undetermined time for reopening, but I suspect it will be soon. I'm glad this came up because it illustrates the checklist I go through in investigating/developing a route. I start with checks on Google/Apple Maps for any real-time closures. For any critical roads in rural area, I'll proceed to Government Road information sites like Caltrans as a deeper check. That's why I'm not a big fan of any routing program I use (MRA, Basecamp, inRoute, OsmAnd) restricting me from developing a route in areas where I do my own research. Even though Google (from my experience) is the best, it's not perfect, as you can see above. And frankly I've found HERE to be the worst. I can show examples of closed roads that HERE says are open, and open roads that HERE says are closed. That's why I'm a big believer in having an "Ignore Closed Roads" option in Routeplanner, to let me decide what's open and not. I don't need big brother directing me.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I can see when you hover but I think there just could be a better way of doing it. Especially when you have potentially eight routes from the same place and they all come in a little box in the corner at the bottom. And you have to click on them all individually It's just a bit frustrating

#metoo

I am supporting the idea of having additional categorized POI icons too. At the end it is just a personal preference which one you use. At Google MyMaps there are more icons to choose from and if you see how they solved the issue with too many to display, you have a very splendid example how to manage many icons. a) you have the standard icons (Beliebte Symbole) always available [image: 1760693932260-bildschirmfoto-2025-10-17-um-11.37.51.jpg] in addition, "Andere Symbole" is showing "recently used" icons - the translation Google used here is not correct in the sense what the functionality is about b) clicking on "Weitere Symbole" (more icons) you get the categorized overview with a search option top right [image: 1760694058867-bildschirmfoto-2025-10-17-um-11.37.42.jpg] Benefits, you have your recent icons available on a fingertip, tons of choices well categorized and searchable, you can define your own colour (having a larger colour choice too I believe). This said, importing POI's from MyMaps or any other sources like POIBase to MRA and taking the symbol and colour into account would be perfect. But who is perfect at the end?
