  • Option to Route through Closed Roads

@Nick-Carthew Yes, I found that curious too. I consider Google Maps the gold standard for identifying traffic/closures and couldn't find it either. I dug a little deeper and found the following on the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS) road status website: [image: 1761919395048-screenshot-207.png] I called their number too. The closure is real with and undetermined time for reopening, but I suspect it will be soon. I'm glad this came up because it illustrates the checklist I go through in investigating/developing a route. I start with checks on Google/Apple Maps for any real-time closures. For any critical roads in rural area, I'll proceed to Government Road information sites like Caltrans as a deeper check. That's why I'm not a big fan of any routing program I use (MRA, Basecamp, inRoute, OsmAnd) restricting me from developing a route in areas where I do my own research. Even though Google (from my experience) is the best, it's not perfect, as you can see above. And frankly I've found HERE to be the worst. I can show examples of closed roads that HERE says are open, and open roads that HERE says are closed. That's why I'm a big believer in having an "Ignore Closed Roads" option in Routeplanner, to let me decide what's open and not. I don't need big brother directing me.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I can see when you hover but I think there just could be a better way of doing it. Especially when you have potentially eight routes from the same place and they all come in a little box in the corner at the bottom. And you have to click on them all individually It's just a bit frustrating

#metoo

I am supporting the idea of having additional categorized POI icons too. At the end it is just a personal preference which one you use. At Google MyMaps there are more icons to choose from and if you see how they solved the issue with too many to display, you have a very splendid example how to manage many icons. a) you have the standard icons (Beliebte Symbole) always available [image: 1760693932260-bildschirmfoto-2025-10-17-um-11.37.51.jpg] in addition, "Andere Symbole" is showing "recently used" icons - the translation Google used here is not correct in the sense what the functionality is about b) clicking on "Weitere Symbole" (more icons) you get the categorized overview with a search option top right [image: 1760694058867-bildschirmfoto-2025-10-17-um-11.37.42.jpg] Benefits, you have your recent icons available on a fingertip, tons of choices well categorized and searchable, you can define your own colour (having a larger colour choice too I believe). This said, importing POI's from MyMaps or any other sources like POIBase to MRA and taking the symbol and colour into account would be perfect. But who is perfect at the end?

Hello, I just took delivery of my 2025 Road Glide CVO. I have just discovered the same problem! I'm sorry I don't speak German, and used Google translate! It looks like the Skyline OS is designed to work with the HD planning tool (available free on thier website). This tool generates routes using milestones and destinations. These approximate to MRA 2shaping points" and 2Via points". My next step is to create a route with more via points, to see if that translates successfully through the GPX 1.1 or BoomBox output, and is correctly interpreted by the Skyline OS. I see you posted this in April, so hopefully you have made progress? The alternative is to use MRA Navigation through the CarPlay function.

@Rakesh-Rao, adding a pause time is a typical planner thing, it does not replicate to Navigation.

Hi Hubert, thanks for the feedback. It's probably my fault, but I'm having trouble with this method. As other users have already said, it would be great to be able to copy the waypoint.

@Nick-Carthew said in Why Not Include Iconic Routes Already Published Online/Books?: @F-Nick The NC500, The SWC300 (South West Coastal 300) The NE250 (North East 250) The Kintyre 66 are the iconic routes in Scotland and also The Grand Tour P.E.N.I.S 287 should maybe be included. There is also the Northumberland 250 and Snowdonia 360. All of these UK routes are in the RouteXpert library along with countless European and North American iconic routes.

Just noticed this should be in the Web section and not the App section. Maybe someone can move it?

@Lenny-O said in Have a Track available along with the Route: Just a convenience thing. I don't think it really is a big deal to implement, is it? I think not indeed, but I don't think much development is being done on the current web application anymore. There is an entirely new web application in the making. Perhaps that one will contain this feature you are asking for (amongst many others! ).

Hi @Chris-Brooker as far as I know Gold is the top level of subscription for the route planner & allows access to all & every function within the route planner What level above Gold are you referring too? Are you asking about the MRA Navigation Next? https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/shop
