    All good suggestions. Thanks. I already knew how to avoid highway but it’s a whole route setting, and placing huge amounts of waypoints to choose my escape will likely be what I do to work around this. I will also tinker with open street maps for segment control. Thank you all again.

    @Skellum If this helps, via points are announced at 2 kilometres shaping points are annouced at 750 metres. There is no option to turn off shaping points, but if you choose to see and hear notes from only via points then the shaping points are only visible on screen, you will not hear any announcement from them.
