navigon lifetime email
-
the thing is i wanted it all before without subscription witch was not possible anymore
so i had to subscribe for navigon and now im stuck with a subscription which goes another 8 months my question here is if i buy it via email does it get changed into a lifetime automatically? do i need to cancel the subscription before i buy? and how does it know on what account it should apply the lifetime? is it linked via email adres? which would explain why we only get the offers via email send and is not on the webshopand for how long is this link valid?
-
@jean-pierre-5 When you buy it, it becomes active immediately, you don't need to cancel your existing subscription. I think you need to login to your account as part of the order process (so make sure to login to the correct one). It looks like today could be the last day to take advantage of the offer: https://info.myrouteapp.com/december-2021-sale/

@herko-ter-horst oke thanks for the heads up! i did order and it did work did not have to login i think its linked to email adres
-
this is sneaky
-
@jean-pierre-5 and now i wonder how long does my MRA Routeplanner Gold Lifetime member last.......
-
Gold Lifetime is volgens mij levenslang..............

I donβt understand, why is this βsneakyβ?
-
@nick-carthew I don't think there's an actual 'sneaky' reason behind it, but taking 'lifetime' to mean no later than 2098 does seem a bit arbitrary.
It's almost like the Y2K-problem all over again, except 100 years later (so Y2.1K) At first I thought there was a technical explanation for this limit (and there still might be) but I couldn't figure out any reasonable explanation myself.
-
@herko-ter-horst @jean-pierre-5 I will be 137 years old in 2098 and probably not riding my motorcycle anymore
-
@nick-carthew treu but when i buy software its mine if i buy a car its mine whatever i buy is mine so "lifetime" is literally a dam lifetime and i did not expect that to be honest lol i mean its smart marketingwise

You did not buy software, you bought a subscription to a service. If the platform stops, there is no software whatsoever you can still use.
-
βLifetimeβ is a classic marketing/legal term that very rarely means what you think it means.
I would take a guess that 85-90% of the MRA Navigation subscribers are 35 and over, so in this instance its a bloody good offer in my opinion.
Personally Iβll be swapping my Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro for a Zimmer frame long before my βLifetimeβ Navigation sub runs out.
I think Iβll go for the Carbon Overland adventure version when the time comes.

@steve-lynch When a picture or two can paint a thousand words.

@nick-carthew @Steve-Lynch
I do not see the use of a walker (rollator) as the end point of the lifetime subscription.
Maybe time for some adjustments in the MRA Nav app. I rather see a business opportunity. -
Loving the conversation here!
I can give a simple explanation on the matter. Navigation Lifetime is just like the Gold Lifetime, you get access till eternity
Our apps need to be updated to display something else rather than a date (such as 01-01-2099). As we now only have the possibility to display dates, an arbitrary date somewhere in the far future has been chosenWe are working to support the following with Navigation:
- Powered wheelchair vehicle selection
- In building navigation with preloaded senior homes
- POI's to quickly navigate to the restaurant or bingo
- In app solitair minigame
- Larger font size that do not require glasses
And way more to enable our users to use the app even after 2099!

so, that means I can put this subscription in my will and transfer it to my children (wll, at least one of them) after my death?

That is not within the definition of lifetime, even if you stretch it beyond the lifetime of the product
-
@corjan-meijerink Kudos for this! Hahahahahahahaha I laughed so hard at this.
