@nick-carthew I don't think there's an actual 'sneaky' reason behind it, but taking 'lifetime' to mean no later than 2098 does seem a bit arbitrary.

It's almost like the Y2K-problem all over again, except 100 years later (so Y2.1K) πŸ™‚ At first I thought there was a technical explanation for this limit (and there still might be) but I couldn't figure out any reasonable explanation myself.

You did not buy software, you bought a subscription to a service. If the platform stops, there is no software whatsoever you can still use.

β€œLifetime” is a classic marketing/legal term that very rarely means what you think it means.

I would take a guess that 85-90% of the MRA Navigation subscribers are 35 and over, so in this instance its a bloody good offer in my opinion.

Personally I’ll be swapping my Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro for a Zimmer frame long before my β€œLifetime” Navigation sub runs out. 😳

I think I’ll go for the Carbon Overland adventure version when the time comes.

I do not see the use of a walker (rollator) as the end point of the lifetime subscription.
Maybe time for some adjustments in the MRA Nav app. I rather see a business opportunity. 😊

                      Loving the conversation here!

I can give a simple explanation on the matter. Navigation Lifetime is just like the Gold Lifetime, you get access till eternity πŸ™‚
Our apps need to be updated to display something else rather than a date (such as 01-01-2099). As we now only have the possibility to display dates, an arbitrary date somewhere in the far future has been chosen πŸ˜‰

We are working to support the following with Navigation:

                      • Powered wheelchair vehicle selection
                      • In building navigation with preloaded senior homes
                      • POI's to quickly navigate to the restaurant or bingo
                      • In app solitair minigame
                      • Larger font size that do not require glasses

And way more to enable our users to use the app even after 2099!

Very funny @Corjan-Meijerink πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ and a good explanation, thank you πŸ‘

I do not see the use of a walker (rollator) as the end point of the lifetime subscription.
Maybe time for some adjustments in the MRA Nav app. I rather see a business opportunity. 😊
