Bugs or "non-documented features" in new MRA Mobile app.
-
I just updated the MRA mobile app and found some quirks:
- In the app itself it is not possible to edit any routes?
- when clicking the big "New Route" button one is transferred to the Routelab environment. In there one can edit or create routes. I would expect this button to therefore not be called "New Route" but instead "To Routelab" or something.
- When transferred to Routelab, one needs to log in which is fine, but even with the setting "keep me logged in" on, the account settings are lost EVERYTIME the app is closed. Horrible!
- When in Routelab I simply cannot to get back to the home screen of the MRA Mobile app itself? Back button does not work nor do I see any on screen buttons to do so.
All in all I'm very pleased with this new release, but imho, there are some things that need fixing.

@stefanhummelink
English
- Also here route editing not possible
- I think the button "New route" works just like in the web version. That's correct, right?
- I remain logged in into the app even if I close it "hard" (iPhone 8, iOS15.5). The strange thing is that I only have to log in again to create a new route and to consult the library! I can see my existing routes and I can also manage my account.
- When I click "Done", I return to the home screen of the app.

Ah, then it seems a deliberate choice to not be able to edit inside the app. I would have really appreciated that feature though

By using the "New Route button" and logging in, I get here:
Als ik op "Gereed" klik, dan kom ik weer terug in het beginscherm van de app.
Where is that Gereed/Done button located?
-
@stefanhummelink
Als ik een rout heb geopend, dan klik ik weer op het "hamburgertje" (drie liggende streepjes linksboven) en in de Routeblibliotheek op "Gereed".
-
It works well for me on my iPhone 11.
-
@rob-verhoeff I assume you're showing the "Library" screen which brings us to the RouteXpert library. Note how it looks on my android.... No "Gereed or Done" buttons.
Similarly I don't get any button type like that when arriving in the Routelab through the New Route button.

That's nice, but there are some issues both on iOS and Android. Saying "It works well for me" is not really a solution!
-
@rob-verhoeff So we noticd obvious differences between the iOS and Android version.
If I open a route it shows me this:
No dedicated buttons to get back to the home screen of the RouteLab neither the home screen of the actual mobile app. Only the Back Button on my phone itselfs seems to do that. And that only works up to the RouteLab level. Getting back to the Mobile app itself its impossible. π€Edit: What the f*
Just now suddenly the Back button on my screen does bring me back tot he Mobile app. Very odd. Unstable behaviour perhaps? Just now it also seems that the account settings are remembered. HmmmmmmmmEdit 2: and just now my account settings are not remembered anymore... And now I have to click the back button multiple times in a row, fast, to get back. Not very stable behaviour.

@rob-verhoeff Iβm not a programmer or app developer. My answer was to show that if there is a bug, it doesnβt affect all phones.

@rob-verhoeff Thanks for posting this here. Some features still open in the website but will be added natively to the app so that for sure will change in the future.
It indeed seems that the lack of a back button when the browser is openend causes some confusion. I will make sure this is fixed in a new update. This will mainly concern Android users as iOS implements this completely different and does show the desired "back" button.
@StefanHummelink Editing routes is not possible yet. This is something we really would like in the future but hasn't been completed for this release. Similar to the previous Mobile app, it wasn't possible then. The "new route" functionality opens the routelab where you can immediately create a new route.
Regarding the being logged in issue, are you logged into the app? I will take a look at this right away.

Nice to see a quick response like this.

True, but still, I would really appreciate that functionality.

Yes, I am logged in into the App itself.
-
@stefanhummelink Cool! We will work on that in the future! Editing routes is a massive feature. Thanks for letting me know that you are logged into the app.
If I understand correctly: every time you navigate to "Library" or "Generator" you aren't logged in. If you go to your account and click "Manage account", is the website account page then correctly displayed? If so, when you did that and then try to open the library / generator, are you then logged in automatically or not?
-
@corjan-meijerink I can send you a screen recording, since the behaviour is quite remarkable:
If I click Manage Account once, I'm not logged in into the website.
If I go back and click Manage Account AGAIN, it does have me logged in and after that, all menu buttons in the app bring me to a logged in version of the website.Without having the Manage Account creating the "logged in" status, none of my buttons bring me to a logged in version of the website.
Hope that sort of makes sense.
I'll create a screen recording now and if you want, I can send it to ya. -
@stefanhummelink That is an excellent answer! Thanks for letting me know, feel free to send the recording to corjan@myrouteapp.com but I think I know what to do already.

Just to add something remarkable: it seems not directly related to the manage account part.
Without going to Manage Account, if I open the New Route once, it ends up on not logged in part. Going back and clicking New Route again, it somehow ends up in the logged on part. Hmmmm.I'll sent the videos through WeTransfer

For quick changes when under way it would be great to implement this feature!

I'm also logged in into the app but still must login when trying to create a new route.

Great feedback everyone, thank you. In the coming period we're going to add in more features as well as progress through a round of "finetuning" to ensure that your wishes are heard.
To share some successes that we think are key to the future:
- This new mobile app is far more 'developer friendly' than the previous one, which means we are more flexible with our updates.
- We aim to release major feature expansions in both June and July, which will include a finetuned experience
-
Just updated but can't see how to "save as" my route and export to Garmin Drive which is the only way I seem able to transfer it to my Garmin XT.

Als ik de app als native app open op mijn MacBook Air, dan zie ik bij het openen van de route een groot wit stuk in beeld waarin niets gebeurt. Normaliter zou ik daar de weergave van de voorgestelde route willen zien voor ik hem open.English:
When I open the app as a native app on my MacBook Air, I see a large white part of the screen in which nothing happens. Normally I would like to see the suggested route representation there before opening it. -
I ask myself one thing: why keep adding new functions, worsening the user experience and above all ... why not solve the old problems first ... which are also many ... instead of improving it gets worse ... I would prefer an app that works instead of having nice graphics ... even the one with many bugs on the computer ...
