New App - dissapointed
-
Hi
I don't take any pleasure in writing this — I was really looking forward to the new app being released, checking everyday, but it doesn't seem to have addressed any of the issues I and others have reported. It still can't plan a A > B route without a data connection.

It 'still' doesn't use the offline maps for the display on this screen making it useless:

And this new screen design, loads of white space but I have to scroll for more buttons:

Sadly I've not seen anything that's made think 'oh, that's nice'.
I'd like to use MRA for all my nav but it's impossible for these reasons, I have to use a different Nav app that actually uses it's offline maps when offline.

I don't have any problems doing a search and planning an A to B route without any Internet on my phone. Are you sure you have the required maps downloaded? I did notice that you have to have offfline mode enabled and you can't do scenic routes.

@Rob-Kelley I have never had a problem with offline maps or navigation. You can clearly see No internet in the first screenshot and no Wi-Fi or Data icons in the second screenshot.

You definitely have not downloaded the offline maps if that is an issue.
Satellite maps won’t be available offline ever because that would be gigabytes of data rather than a few megabytes for the same area. That said, never thought of that so indeed a user won’t get a notification of that. Great idea to add something in that line.
Horizontal scrollable buttons are great as the most important ones are at the left and this scales well across all devices and widely used now in many apps.
The white space depends on the amount of details for the search result. Indeed, when not much available, the white space is a bit much but never felt disturbing.
Edit: scenic routes can never be calculated offline but will show a nice message if you attempt this
