How is the POI list actually created? I am particularly interested in hotels. Booking shows significantly more Hotels. lg Kudee

@Kudee It’s a list supplied by OSM. You can sign up to OpenStreetMap to add or edit information.

@Nick-Carthew Thanks Nick for the information. Being Offline it becomes difficult to find a hotel even if it is already booked with Booking. Do you know how the link between OSM and Hotel comes about?

@Kudee OpenStreetMap is open source information like Wikipedia. Anyone can add information if they are registered with OSM. So you submit your information about a hotel and then when it becomes approved it will be added to the OSM POI database.
You can also add your own custom POI in MyRoute-app by selecting Manage in the POI editor.

Another possibility when creating your route in the Trip Planner (hence being online and being able to to see the POI Hotel) is to just add a waypoint at the Hotel POI Co-Ords and rename it with the Hotel name.
This way it is specific to this route only and also available when Offline.

Hi Steve. I think @Kudee’s problem was that not all hotels are included in the POI library. This is why I suggested adding a custom POI, this too would be visible when offline.

Yes, obviously you are correct but the the MRA Google overlay would probably have them all.
I’m just not a fan of POI’s myself.
I prefer to use Favourites for things I go to regularly like Biker Cafe’s etc.
Hotels are generally a one time only visit for me so I prefer to have it built into the Route as a waypoint.
I can then share the route as is without the end user having to search for Hotels. (Unless they don’t like my choice).

I am doing the NC767 in a couple of weeks.
The first B&B I will stay at was not in the OSM POI Database but is in the MRA Google Overlay.
              Saved myself a fortune! 👍😎

@Steve-Lynch Thanks for the help. Google Map actually shows most of the hotels. To go to possible hotels I have to:

                • Create sharping point
                • Create a favorite from this
                • Delete the sharing point
                • Rename favorite to Zurich Hotel 1

Is a little complicated. Because I can easily create a POI with a click, but navigating to this is not possible.

POI, I honestly can't see any point in it...

@Kudee POIs serve as a visual indication of where something is. For example, a museum might be off of the main route and to save adding additional route points a visual guide to its location can be useful.

@Nick-Carthew Thanks. I haven't found a way yet, really, who came up with that? A POI to which I can not navigate? Favorites which does not appear on the map? The POI appears on the map but no idea what that could be since there is only one icon to choose from. A hotel which is nice and I have planned in case it rains? A whorehouse? A motorcycle mechanic? In Navigation no folders and subfolders, the same in Favorites. I have many routes, POI and favorites, would be cool if you could select in the planning tool which are synchronized with the mobile or displayed.
Sorry for my whining 🙂 In general I am still excited about MRA

POIs that are in the library can be used as a route point, only custom POIs can’t.

Favorites which does not appear on the map?
Favourites are used just to quickly find a favourite place when you are planning. and are not fed

This is on the roadmap list of updates.

In Navigation no folders and subfolders
A workaround for this is to either create an event and add your routes to the event, this is useful if you have a tour planned where you need quick access to several routes. Another solution is to make a slight change to a route then this will appear at the top of the list in Navigation. These too are due for upgrades in the near future.

                            #14

Icreate favourites (= personal points of interest) throughout the year using my own naming convention. These points are gathered reading magazines, books, tourisitc brochures and are thus noted as places to visit.

All these favourites come in very handy when organising the next road trip.

If I remember well, an extension to the current POI/favourites is foreseen on the MRA roadmap

It is not difficult, it is easy, it's a hobby
