MyRoute-App does not work on Caretta
-
Hi Team,
I have been an active user of the MyRoute app since its invention and have been very happy with it on all versions of the Carpe Iter device. I ride 15,000–18,000 km per year.
Having just changed to the new Caretta, I am faced with a non-functioning MyRoute-app. After powering up the Caretta, the app is extremely slow to start with, and it takes 10–30 minutes to open a GPX file. When I try to start navigation, either nothing happens or, after 10–30 minutes, the next step appears and asks me to confirm 'Start', but nothing else happens. It looks as if the app has frozen and will not let me move forward or back.
I have contacted the Carpe Iter service team, but they have referred me to the MyRoute-app service team.
I hope this issue will be resolved quickly. Incidentally, DMD2, Locus Maps, Google Maps and TomTom work flawlessly on my Caretta.
Cheers, Markus

@Markus-Hellenthal-Dr. Firstly I would delete the app and all of its content including any cache and then reinstall it.
If that doesn’t work, save the log files by long pressing the app version number and attach the log files to a new support ticket. -
The official answer is that we are absolutely clueless. I’ve received the Caretta myself and have zero issues.
Then there are users reporting this. Which is completely mind blowing. We are clueless what the cause could be.
Carpe Iter is investigating hardware issues and other weird users reports. Such as that users who configures GPS update intervals to 10hz having a big issues whereas the default 1hz works flawlessly.
It’s not that I’m pointing to Carpe Iter to solve the problem but it’s not as simple that we can just easily solve it

We have zero pointers what the issue could be. Literally the version installed on Caretta works without a single issue on the Carpe Iter Tab. We just build an app for Android and then suddenly it does not work well on their new device. When I then test their device it works perfectly.
Feel free to forward this message (and my reply) to Carpe Iter. Them saying “ask MRA” is way too short sighted. Mention my name and “Jan” and I am sure they will want to know your exact Caretta configuration.
All parties are dedicated to solve this issue

It might not be the exact same problem, but I'm sharing a similar frustrating experience in case it helps.
Something similar happened to me with the Hugerock X7. After much discussion with Hugerock's technical support, they sent me a modified firmware and the problem was solved.

@ Corjan: Thank you for your feedback, Corjan. It gives me hope that the issue can be resolved. As you suggested, I have forwarded your feedback to the Carpe Iter team.
@ Nick: Nick, it doesn't seem possible to uninstall the app completely, only the updates, which I did. I also deleted the cache and all data. After reinstalling via the Play Store, there were no changes — all the issues are still there.
I tried your recommendation of saving the log files by long-pressing the app version number, but even after 30 seconds, nothing happened. Is there another 'trick'?
Cheers

Markus@Markus-Hellenthal-Dr. I think there is more to this issue than I first thought. @Corjan-Meijerink is the developer of the app and I would Follow his advice.
