Waypoint Position Offset
-
There are hundreds of comments in the forum about how points MUST be placed accurately on the road
I don't 100% agree with this but............ when I place a point I want it to be where I place itWith the new app planner there seems to be some offset when a point is placed, it is particularly obvious when the "Move" point tool is used in the app
I have tried zoomed in the error/offset is still present just the scale of the error changes,
the same happens on multiple device typesThe first pictures are where I have positioned the point, the second after I have pressed the green or yellow accept button. Point 13 was done at maximum zoom, point 14 zoomed out a bit

Point 6 on a different device was placed above the road with the Move function & when accepted via the yellow place button

I also think that this could work more accurately in the MRA app application, it may help to use a pointed pen
️, but I never have it with me either. So you are not alone with the desire but there will definitely be a solution I am quite sure.

Yes, there is indeed still an issue with this.
Some resolutions have a minor offset which we are still investigating. That said, as long as the route itself is on the correct road, the waypoint itself can be placed quite a bit off route
It really doesn't have to perfect (when navigating using our app) -
yes you can handle that! -

However I would not catagorise the offsets that I am seeing in the new App Planner at some zoom levels as "minor"
At some zoom levels the points end up 10's & 10's of meters from the road but that is not the problem, the issue is the points are not being placed where they are intended
so now each time when placing a point, I have to select a very high zoom level want to minimise the offset,
it just makes using the App Planner a lot more work to use -
When waypoints are too far off, you also have the risk that that you are deviated from the actual route when you recalculate route turned on. That's why always i have recalculate route turned off both in MRA Next app as on my Garmin Zumo XT. This way, if the waypoint is a bit off but the route follows the road you want to drive, you will keep following the route without any deviation or reroute calculations. I know somebody really, really, really do not agree with me but those autocratic users i ignored (blaming or correcting others for things they themselves do autocratically).
I always correct waypoints if needed/required when i import a .gpx file or creating my own route. It takes some extra time (a few minutes) correcting the route, but the mistakes i could make when riding that route are less to none than doing nothing and riding from one direction to another.

Yes indeed, but that's what Corjan meant as well. There is an offset on placing waypoints in the app-planner, mainly when held in landscape orientation, and dependent on the resolution of the device. It is being investigated.
