Fake Closed road on Here
-
Hi everyone, I have a problem with the maps. If I create an itinerary with Here maps to use them on MyRoute-App it shows me closed roads that are actually open, however if I use Tom Tom cartography the roads are no longer marked closed but are open, the problem is that if I use Tom Tom maps I can't navigate with the myroute app with waypont... how can I solve this problem? How can I tell the maps here that there is no closed road at that point and force passage? Thank you

@Yoshj If you enable the "Traffic" overlay map (see blue arrow), you can see that a black line runs along a large part of the route. This line indicates that the route is closed, probably due to construction work. This information is provided by the map supplier. TomTom does not see this construction work. So, it is an error with either Here or TomTom. MRA cannot do anything about this because they receive this information from the map supplier, Here.

@Yoshj you could use the waypoint "Skip" feature to bypass the closed road, the followingn thread is a good example / description of how to use it:
-
@Captain-Haddock I would not recommend that. Apparently, there are road closures due to construction work. Your suggestion can be used perfectly for ferries that do not have a clear sailing schedule, but not in areas where roads are truly closed for any reason.
-
Business idea for MRA basic version: first 10 Waypoints are free, each additional is €0,10
Sorry for OT, but could not resist.^^
-
@Erdna, if this is a serious suggestion why not make a separate thread in the suggestions category? But I give it not much chance, MRA selling a crippled product... Besides that, for the amount of waypoints in most RouteXpert routes you could easily buy a few months of subscription.

@Rob-Verhoeff the road is open, here he's wrong, Tom Tom is right, but I can't use the Tom Tom navigation on the my-route app... they should integrate the TomTom or Google cartography on the my route app, Here gives many errors, for example sometimes it happens that it wants to make me turn us roads that are actually on another level (overpasses). Here sucks.
-
@Yoshj You can easily say that, but in practice, it's not feasible for MRA. The navigation engine is based on the Here API with everything that entails. You can't just switch to another map provider easily. Not to mention the costs involved! It would be a kind of business suicide, I think!
Here maps are not so bad as you say. It's more what you're used to!

That is a good point, Rob. Unfortunately, closed roads are shown black on a black track. If one is not zoomed in to the max, this is easily missed. Maybe the colour for blocks is not optimal...

@Yoshj
As mentioned by Rob, Here is not bad. Here is on the same level with TT as automotive supporter for navigation.
Both can have not actual information here and there regard to traffic infos.
May Google is a bit ahead using the data of movement of mobile phones connected to Google.I have to disagree. I only can speak for Italy at this time, but Here data quality is way behind TomTom. E.g. roundabouts that are there since years are not in Here data. Speed limitations are a mess in Here, too. Ok, in Italy nobody cares anyway, but I hope you get my point. ^^

I have to agree to Yoshi. Again, I can only speak for Italy, but e.g. routing in smaller villages will have you go to the smallest, most narrow passages it can find and mostly they´re not passable. Lesson learned, stick to the main roads unless you want to meet new friends that wonder what you are doing in their backyard.
-
@Peter-Schiefer Yeah, you´re right, Peter. But we were talking about TomTom and Here. In that case, TomTom clearly is better. Not much, I can tell.^^

I ran in to the same problem for a mountain road on Mallorca and found this option in the toolkit menu: Disable seasonal closures. It solved my problem on the website and on the app as well. I don't know where Here gets this seasonal information because this road only closes in severe weather conditions??? Anyway, maybe this works for you too!
