@mtc-tet-club Hi MTC-TET, we use the group function and events the same way with MTC-Zeilberg. What you can do as a workaround, find the person who wants to participate in the event, check if they have routes or tracks that are public. If so, you can leave a comment in one of the routes or tracks.

@pad-0 said in MRA Navigation and downloaded maps.: @con-hennekens Could the terrain, roads and traffic conditions we usually inhabit inform our varied navigation habits, perhaps? I think your comparison of circumstances is quite correct. However I am living in the far south (as far as you can speak of that in the Netherlands ) with German Eifel and Belgium Ardennes in less than an hour drive away. I have been riding for years without audible guidance, so I am probably more used to do without it than many others. But in my experience, the more unpredictable the road gets, the better it is to look at the map at your own chosen time. That gives you knowledge about the road ahead and prevents having to look at the screen when it is necessary to have eyes on the road. I ride in landscape mode, so I have better sight on side roads too.

@alan-hilton For most other devices from Garmin and TomTom you can use any of the GPX-options that includes a track and then make sure to use the track instead of the route.

@con-hennekens I have asked Sygic again about the route import. Here the answer: Yes, this route import is in the plan for the development. Although, we would like to ask for your patience, as we can't confirm when, or even promise it will be added to the app anytime soon.*

I do like the fact that a copy is made that is shared in an event. And it does indeed take some getting used to. With regard to making the track visible in MRA navigation, this may be included in further development.

@cristiano-repetti @cristiano-repetti said in App navigator iOS: can not calculate route message: Only these 2 software are able to do that, actually. I would add: on condition that the navigator is stable, and makes full use of all the routeplanner features and vice versa. In my opinion the TomTom desktop planner is quite limited.

@jack-van-tilburg I agree. It is usually a bad idea to work directly with your "historical" routes as the risk is high that you would unintentionaly change them. Your approach is much safer.

@sven-v As far as I know it's not possible to do what you want in MRA But.... there is a workaround Let's say you have a route with waypoints 1 to 6 and you want to set a winding route level between waypoint 3 and 4. Proceed: 1.- Make a route A from 1 to 3 2.- Make a route B from 3 to 4 and set winding route level as you want. Expand that route to more points (dependint how long is). Let's say you expand to 40 waypoints 3.- Make a route C from 4 to 6 Now, join all the routes and the trip 3 to 4 will keep the route designed with the winding level you choosed

@ian-street Which .gpx format to use seems very dependent on the device to be used. I haven’t a clue how yours might treat .gpx1.0 (my 390 was designed to use this despite 1.1 being current at the time???). In theory, from what little I’ve read about them, I think the formats ‘should’ be backwards compatible, in that devices intended to use later versions can use earlier ones. But somehow… This is Garmin we’re talking about! Give it a go, you won’t do any damage, but might get an error message or odd looking route!

@tom-vandenbossche One work around you may want to try is to use Google MyMaps. Create a new map, and import each day's track into a separate layer. You can have up to 10 layers per map, so that will accommodate a 10 day trip, and if you need more you just create a separate map. This is very quick and easy to do as MRA allows you to export (save as) up to 10 routes or tracks at one time. These are combined into one zip file with the same names they have in MRA and can be unzipped quickly back into 10 separate files. Importing into MyMaps layers is very quick and easy as well once you've done it a time or two. The nice thing about MyMaps is you can turn each layer (your individual day's route in your case) on and off completely unlike Basecamp which shows them all and just highlights the one that you've selected. You can also very easily share your entire trip on MyMaps with friends and family if you want to show them where you're going or have been. I'll upload a couple of examples below of routes that I've exported from MRA to MyMaps. The first will show all 10 layers visible, and the second will show all but one turned off. Thanks @pad-0, I hadn't realised that certain functions only apply to specific maps.

@steve-lynch Re. “Like @PAD-0 said they are ways round most of the issues.” Indeed, but not really very happy ones! Avoidance of a feature because it doesn’t work, or doesn’t work reliably, is not ideal, to put it mildly! It does seem to be an MRA standard though, as expressed at its highest level by Navigation app best being avoided altogether!!!
