Navigation

I don't use the Navigation app per sec but do create routes and use the software intensively (I have over 1000 routes across Europe and the |Americas) so consider myself as being quite experienced.
I went for a local ride yesterday with a couple of friends who woudl normally navigate from A - B (one with a TomTom and the other with Google Maps) so a route is a totally new concept for them!
The TomTom rider had never imported a route to his device so that didn't start well and the other user had subscribed to the free 14 day trial of MRA and had the route but didn't start it until we were at the first waypoint (which was our meeting place.
We kicked that one off and went on our merry way (the TomTom user also tried to use MyRouteApp navigation but couldn't figure it out or import the routes I had sent via Whatsapp (he is not familiar with applications but this is a real life experience) but the WyRouteApp user flashed us after about 20 minutes to stop as his App was telling him to turn round and go back to the start (our initial meeting place).
I looked at his phone and hit the symbol on the top right which seemed to change to the next viapoint (ideal) and off we went.
At the coffee stop he told me that he had simply turned off the volume as it was still trying to go back to the start.
I had a longer look at his application (it looked different to mine (Gold Member running Androad vs. his IOS on Apple)) and I simply could not find how to restart the route from the next waypoint!
Now, I am technically savvy. I lead people on motorcycle tours throughout Europe and beyond so have seen lots of different setups and issues but this one I did not resolve over coffee and because we were only out for the day, they simply followed me.
This morning I loaded the routes for a three day trip onto the TomTom (for my friend) and will show him how to do this some other time and explain about Routes etc. I also sent the routes in GPX format to the one with the iPhone so he can load them into MRA and play about with it including looking for instrucitons (which I couldn't find) for how to use Navigation.
His free 14 day trial will run out before our trip but he intended to purchase the months trial and see how that went before investing into an anuual or lifetime membership.
So..
Does the free trial version have limitations (I found it difficuilt to modify the route - a bit like a TomTom!!)?
Where do I find the instructions of how to use Navigation (if they actually exist)?and my observations are that for a free trial - this looks pretty complicated although, had he loaded the route when he left home as he was supposed to do as the first point is about 10 minutes away, things would have probably been fine!
I myself use a Beeline in this instance with the route created from MRA but I also have a number of Garmin devices, the usual Applications Waze, MRA, Sygic etc.
Any advice and pointers would be much appreciated.

Looking at Navigation using my own Android device (Gold Membership) it really looks quite straightforward.
Does the free 14 day trial have limitations?
Does the IOS version differ from AndroidOr
Was the issue simply because he didn't start from the start and I couldn't skip the first waypoint (his error as the waypoing was not his start point but a RDV along the route)

The trial version has no limitations.
When your friend started at the first viapoint that was probably the issue. I dont know where the scip waypoint knob is on a iPhone -
Thank you for your response.
I suspected as much.
The skip waypoints looks to be at the top right but it didn't appear to work properly ( I could choose the next waypoint and thought all was well but the software then tried to route back to the start).
Always difficult to troubleshoot properly when you are out in the field and it is not your device.
Frustrating too as it was me who recommended MRA to him!
We will see how we get on in a few weeks time but have a backup plan in place as again, I don't have time to troubleshoot whilst on a trip.
