Garmin Zumo Route not Reflecting My Planned Route

Hi, I have recently purchased a Garmin Zumo XT2 and I load the device from MyRouteApp via Treads using GPX1.1 Routes & Tracks.
However I am finding the route on the Garmin is occasionally omitting waypoints and trying to send me down unpaved roads.
Has anyone else come across this issue and if so have you managed to resolve it.
Any advice gratefully received and I won't be offended if I have made a schoolboy error.

Do you use the Here-map for planning your routes?

@Graham-Swift you need to select HERE map in options! Then you need to zoom in map, to check, if all route points are exactly positioned on roads. And if I'm right, you should use gpx 1.2 file format, if you transfer files to Garmin XT2. At least, I remember slightly about issues with Shapig- and Via-Routepoints; therefore I stopped use of shaping points.

Since I use MyRoute-App for navigation, I don't have any longer problems

gpx 1.1 or gpx 1.2 If you use gpx 1.2 there need to be some via points in the route, because gpx 1.2 is a route-track with via points
