HERE issue regarding seasonal closures
-
Hi all!
Over the last days / weeks we got some reports that the seasonal closures in the HERE map were not working as expected. We've investigated the issue and I've been in contact with our local HERE partner. Today I received confirmation that the issue is with HERE and they will look into it with priority.
Unfortunately we cannot do anything right now to solve the problem. We do however have two recommendations:
- Use more waypoints. By placing waypoints on the closed road, it might force the route to use that road.
- Try other avoid options. Sometimes a nearby tunnel allows a suitable alternative so enabling the "avoid tunnels" option from the toolkit could also help in that specific scenario. Be aware that this can have side effects for the other part of the route as it will try to avoid all tunnels on the route.
We'll let you know when the issue has been solved! Sorry for the inconvenience.

@Corjan-Meijerink Thanks for all your help, but has HERE made any progress with the fix for this issue, I am trying to plan a route through Switzerland and given the current issues with the map, it is impossible due to the none function of the seasonal closures choice. Once again, thanks for your help.
Kind Regards,Bill UK

@Corjan-Meijerink Good morning. This issue with seasonal closures is a serious one, if you are a Garmin owner, the issue effectively limits your use of the map programme to 3/4months of the year. This is due to the seasonal closures issue. I have tried both your suggestions for a work around, neither will suffice and they just don't work. As you will now, I have used the programme for a good number of years and have a lot of experience using your product. I am therefore faced with some choices. Do I stick with a product I am paying 35gbp per year, but can only have full use for 3/4 months, do I purchase a Tom Tom system, well they are 400 gbp, so that is unlikely. I have no doubt HERE will be taking money from you to use their product. Can I therefore suggest the following. Whoever it is you are "reaching" out to, reach out with your metaphorical boot and really shake the department up. Tell them you are unhappy with their response and really come down hard on them. If you guys are not being charged by HERE, then there is very little you can do, but lose customers from your product. Please do not take this personally, I am just very, very unhappy with a situation, where it appears, no progress is being made.
Kind RegardsBill
