TomTom Rider series

Am I the only member of this forum that doesn’t have problems with their satnav (cough cough XT ). I plan a route, send it in the cloud via MyDrive as a .gpx track or upload it as an .itn route to my TomTom Rider 500 and I ride it. No messing around with shaping points or via points, if I want to highlight a stop I just add a POI. The TomTom follows my planned route faithfully.
Just thought I’d mention it

Yes you are wwwhhhooaaaa🤫

@Nick-Carthew i do it even simpler, I skip using mydrive and never have problems either
-
No issues with the XT here Nick.
GPX1.1 Shaping Points only apart from the First and Last points.
Plot at least 1 Shaping Point on every road I travel on. -
but i am still very convinced that a complete eco system routeplanner- navigator is the way forward.
Imagine all the settings/preferences/POI information/traffic info (and reaction)/etc... one could pass from the planner to the navigator without being constrained by how foreign nav devices understand GPX.

MyDrive is very simple if you want to send a .gpx file. I can do it from my phone as long as I have 4g or wi-fi.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of MRA Navigation and always use it alongside my TomTom. I'm very much looking forward to the release of Next, but all the time I have a very capable and functioning TomTom, I will use it. My TT 500 will be out of date soon, TT will stop issuing updates for it like they did with my last TT device. One thing is for sure, I won't be buying another TT nor will I cross over to the dark side and purchase a Garmin. Smart phone navigation with MRA is definately the future.

@Nick-Carthew I'm fan of the "smart phone" solution, but last summer I've experience a little issue in a very hot weather (about 39ºC / 40ºC) and the phone was so hot that do not charge very well (in wireless charging). I've never had a dedicated GPS device, but have you ever experience any difficult in using TT in very hot weather?
-
@Jose-Pinheiro-0 No, and I have ridden in temperatures of 40°c in Andalusia. I have my phone mounted on my mirror so that it has a good airflow over it.
-
@Nick-Carthew I'll tried it next summer, hope my phone don't fly with the wind
P.S. nice ride companion, the little sheep

@Drabslab
I agree that MRA Next is an option I would be interested in.
However thats a long way off so the XT will be my device of choice at the moment.
When the Next beta's are available I will test them but the XT will stay on the bike as well.
