Round-trip generator (rondrit generator) doesn't work from some points
-
Hello,
I've noticed, while trying out the "rondrit generator" (can I translate this into "roundtrip generator" ?) doesn't seem to work from most starting points that I select in some small village. More specifically, I'm trying to make some roundtrips starting in Krewinkel, a small village in the Belgian Eastern Cantons. I wonder why that can be ?
Whether I'm selecting my starting point on the road itself, or on crossroads, it all doesn't seem to make a big difference. On the other hand, selecting some bigger village in the neighbourhood doesn't seem to have those problems.
Is there a logic that I could follow to prevent such difficulties, rather than to try-and-fail ?

I have also tried to generate a roundtour from Krewinkel. It doesn't work with me either.
Tried in different directions and different distances.

@Jack-van-Tilburg Thank you for trying it out too. I had been wondering if the problem was at my side, so I had thought to mention Krewinkel hoping that someone would try it out too, so thanks for verifying this.
Is this a bug, or some "faulty usage" of the feature, I ask myself ... I tend to think in the direction of some bug ...

You can apparently select/use every avoidance except "Cities".
When you deselect "Cities" your route will be generated. -
Did you try the “surprise me “ option from the same location?

@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master
100, 150 en 200 km. -
@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master I tried 250 km, and gradually decreased the distance, also entered a duration when distances didn't work. I most frequently set the direction towards the Eifel, Luxemburg, or Germany.

@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master OK, top, thank you.
For what it's worth : the solution Jack suggests works indeed. However, I think it's suboptimal : I would rather suggest an immediate and intuitive error message when starting a roundtrip from a point of which the software knows that it will result into an "impossible" route. This saves the user from executing the 4 following steps to only at the end be (frustratingly) notified that "there could be found no route". It would also enable a user to let the option to "avoid cities" remain active and select another point right at the start of a roundtrip setup...

It didn't work for me, I did a test yesterday
