Radar alert

Hello, I’m not sure if I’m mistaken, but I understood that it was possible to receive audible speed camera alerts on CarPlay even when not following a route. Or at least that’s what I thought. Could someone confirm whether that’s the case? Thanks.

@benet_73 You only receive speed camera alerts when navigating, not during free drive.

If you have an app on your phone that alerts you to speed cameras, you can let it run in the background. You’ll still hear the notification that there’s a speed camera ahead, but you won’t see it in the MRA app. I use Flitsmeister for that, and it works perfectly with it.

Thanks for the replies. I may have confused it with Sygic, which does provide alerts even when you’re not following a route. Would it be possible to implement this option? Should I post it in the suggestions forum? Best regards.

Create a Route with one WP. Disable recalculation and start Route.
Drive.

Drive. That may be a perfect solution from a technical point of view, but it's not user friendly.
Just have the warnings appear always, independant of any active route, as benet_73 suggested. Works fine with Waze and Sygic. -
Another option:
Imagine you’re driving in Switzerland.
If you’re even 1 km/h over the limit, you’ll be fined – starting at €40 and going up from there.
So you’ll pay attention to the speed limit and use your brain instead of relying on technology.

That's a bad option

But hey, if you like it like that, then enjoy constantly looking at your speedometer. I'm not going to stop you.I prefer to have my attention on the road and on beautiful scenery, and get alerted if there's a speed trap ahead. This does not mean I ride like a maniac when there's no alert, it simply means I can enjoy the ride more.
Anyway, speed cam warnings are illegal in CH, so they are NOT part of the Here maps service, ref https://docs.here.com/here-sdk/docs/navigation-warners#coverage-for-safety-cameras
This means, if speed camera alerts are enabled in the app, I will get warnings in surrounding countries like in Italy and Austria, but not in CH. Thus, I don't have to pay attention to disabling speed cam alerts when crossing the border to CH, in the MRA. In other apps, sure, that's a different matter.
