    Hi,
A feature I used a lot with Basecamp was the ability to set a departure time on a waypoint. Especially useful with ferrys which we have quite a few of in Norway. I would love this to be added to the planner.

    Thanks.

You van see at what time you arrive at the waypoint (when you have set a startingtime at the first). You can manipulate that time by adding a pause., to reach the desired time.

Met andere apps maak je een route, met MRA componeer je een route!

You can set the departure date and time under Route Information.
Once that's set, as Lex mentioned, the waypoints will show your estimated arrival time at the destination.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I should have mentioned that I know that I can insert a pause at a waypoint, I use that all the time. And yes, I also always set a departure date and time for the trip. But sometimes, especially when a ferry is on the route, it would be easier to add a waypoint at the arriving port and set a departure time for that specific waypoint, than having to calculate how long a pause I need to make. This is not a big issue, but would make planning routes for me just a tad easier.

Just call the waypoint the time you want.

I don't think that helps very much. The point is to have the subsequents times calculated based on the departure time set on the waypoint by the planner. I did a bit of testing and It does seem that MRA is better at calculating the time a ferry takes to cross compared to what Basecamp did so this may be less of an "issue" than I thought (unless I was lucky/unlucky with the ferries I tested with). Would still like the feature though. 🙂

@orgabeke, inland river ferries are counted as half an our whenever there is no schedule (usually there is none). That's also the reason a detour will be calculated if it takes less than 30 minutes (in quickest route setting of course). For sea ferries I think the ferry schedule is used, but I have no experience with that.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Maybe it was just luck that the two ferries I tried seemed to be calculated almost to the minute correctly. I'll see when planning other routes in the future if that seems to be the case with all ferries or not.

I agree it would be very helpful to be able to set a departure time for individual waypoints. I used this a lot too on other apps and I find using calculated times to be messy. The times constantly recalculate and although by only a few minutes its extremely frustrating because changed affect the whole journey! It would be wonderful to be able to set a time and then let the app show calculated and forced time side by side.

@orgabeke I agree with you totally. Its frustrating rather than anything, and compared with other Apps is a slight weakness.

This would be a very useful feature. I've no Idea how many minutes I want to spend at a hotel on a trip, but I probably do know that I don't want to have to set off before 8:30am. On a multi leg trip, before I split it down to days, being able to work out whether you'll get to the next hotel before the check-in desk closes obsequiously early (paging Austria and Germany) would be extremely beneficial.

On the subject of ferries: why is mileage calculated for the ferry leg? Pretty sure my bike or car odometer isn't clicking over while I snooze in my cabin.

Perhaps it would be useful in general to use the arrival time as a starting point rather than just the departure time.
It often happens that you want or need to be somewhere at a certain time, and in those cases it could be useful not to enter a departure time but an arrival time, with MRA then calculating what time you would need to leave.
That also solves the problem of the departing ferry straight away!

                            met een R1250RT met TFT en BMW Connected Ride App (die dus nog steeds niet voldoet!) ;
de Garmin Zumo XT en M.R.A. in combinatie met de Carpuride W702 (voor Android op de Motor!) en een Samsung Galaxy S24

I wonder how it could be developed. But I agree with the wish. Because if I search for a train, I can set instead of departure time alternatively a arrival time.

I agree - the feature requested would be nice to have. I start a long (up to 600mile) transit route and leave as one route, in order to plan efficient fuel stops. But having a start time for an individual waypoint - would be very useful for planning the overnight stop without sitting with a notepad to calculate time-between waypoints and the Destination.
