    Hi all,
Would it be possible to introduce some higher contrast maps with the upcoming app updates?

I really like using the Roads only (Vulf) as day and night as you can clearly see the road layout when just glancing at the screen.

To have these but with colour indicating the different road types, land type, logistical info, etc. would be awesome!

I find with most of the other map styles, the roads (especially the rural ones) are quite washed out, probably more to do with my ageing eyes though 😁

@Next-Stop Hello, I also would like to see more contrast. For example the map in DMD2 is much more sharp and clear.

Resurrecting this thread as I really struggled to see some roads and turning points as when out of town there is almost no contrast between the roads and the background. I tried the suggestions in this post but nothing makes any difference.

            Can anyone suggest anything?

I also think it would be a good idea to have maps with higher contrast. Sometimes I take the wrong turn because there's a fork in the road where one of the two roads isn't visible on the map, and so I turn onto the wrong one. After a few meters, the app recalculates and I realize I've made a mistake...

me too! As long as you strictly follow the route line (with the instructions for turn right or left) it could be on a blanc/white background.
But if you have a lot of 3rd level roads in the area you are just driving, the map is in fifty shades of gray. So an orientation is not really possibly.

Sometimes I don't want to follow the route exactly - sometimes another more beautiful road is going parallel and I would do a kind of detour. But I can't see it on that gray in gray map.

Also if I drive a track offroad, it would be helpful to see p.e. a borderline of a forest, or a little river etc. to be sure, to drive correct. But in bright sunshine and a map style in pastel colours, it's hard to read.

I know, Garmin is using a simple txt file to specify the colours for each and everything. So, it's easy to change p.e. the color for highways, urban streets, forests, meadows, etc. to own purpose.

                Nothing is impossible ;-)

Here is a comparison of Google maps with the Here map on MRA, despite the poor image quality the difference is obvious.
The road colour doesn't need to change, just the background when out of town.

I would like more contrast as well. My old eyes are crying... I use Dart as color but it's not enough.

@ Marinus: I don't agree. In the countryside roads are hardly visible. In Logistic You can't even see these roads...
Dart & Topografic seems to be the best contrast overall. But I would still like a more contrasting card.

@Jan-Jans-Gold-0-0 that had to do with the Here SDK and can't be fixed by MRA. Whatever you like best use it

Probably the best phone app maps I've used are in OsmAnd Pro. The 3D rendering of countryside areas is a treat to experience. Unfortunately, there isn't the flexibility to import these maps into MRA Next.

The absolute best I've used is the 3D Terrain map in the Garmin XT3. The visualization takes the layered driving map to a different level. While Garmin uses HERE, these are specialized hybrid maps not available to the outside world.

For urban areas, the MRA Next map is very good. But there are tradeoffs with everything.

The man is looking for answers. If all you want to do is bash anything Garmin, you're doing a disservice to anyone looking for useful information. Your input was to weakly defend what's already in MRA Next, and when confronted with its inadequacy, concluded with "Whatever you like best use it". That certainly seems like an invitation to look elsewhere.

I gave a balanced answer, and hopefully something useful. If that somehow offends you, please move on.
