SilverFox Controller C 1
-
Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the Bluetooth controllers you advertise.
I'm using an Android phone to navigate the My Route app in the BMW cradle and would like to be able to zoom and center in the app.I'm considering purchasing the new SilverFox Controller C1.
https://www.silverfoxcontrollers.com/product-page/silverfox-c1-navigation-controllerCan you please confirm that I can zoom and center with the My Route app using this C1 controller?
Or should I go for the Carpe Iter product, but without the 4-button control.
https://carpe-iter.eu/bmw-control/It would be very helpful if you could give me a tip on which product works better with the My Route app.
Best regards,
Peter -
@Peter-Zehentreiter In combination with the BMW, I would definitely recommend the Carpe Iter BMW control.
The SilverFox C1 is very new! I haven't tested one (yet).
I will contact them to see if I can get my hands on one. -
@Corjan-Meijerink Thanks for important information from your side.
Last year ( before I went from Kurviger to My Route) I already tried the Carpe Iter BMW control, zooming in Google Maps and Kurviger worked well, but what annoyed me, was that I could not use the Wonderwheel for the original BMW Connected App anymore. That´s wy I thought about the SilverFox Controller, to separate the Wonderwheel funktion from another controller that would allow me to use the Wonderwheel for the BMW App and using the Silverfox C1 for MY Route.
I´ll get in touch with Carpe Iter and ask for more details concerning this issue!
Would be great to get any information from your side as soon as you are having more secured information about the C1 controller.

@Corjan-Meijerink Hi Corjan, just because I am curious, would it be possible to make changes to the My Route app, so that the original BMW Wonderwheel would allow zooming? However, without any other Bluetooth controllers. That would be a real game changer, and a lot of CRN drivers from the BMW camp would switch to My Route Navigation.
-
@Peter-Zehentreiter, if it were that simple it would have been done already
since the wishes for it are quite substantial. There is no means to pair a wonderwheel with phones without additional hardware, is there? And BMW is protective of their invention.
-
@Con-Hennekens I understand that it's not easy, of course, but it works really well in conjunction with the BMW Connected app in the cradle.
It's also logical that BMW protects its system!
My thought was this: if Carpe Iter somehow manages to access the Wonderwheel via the BMW Control Hub, there might be a way to adapt the app accordingly. (Dreams are always allowed.)
I'm not an app developer and I don't know anything about programming, so I just asked.

I've ordered a C1 controller. Awaiting production and shipment so I guess I'll know more in three weeks (next production batch is over 2 weeks).
And indeed, that is unfortunately not possible.
As MRA we do not ambition creating hardware such as Carpe Iter so indeed, using their module is on of the ways to integrate with BMW. -
@Corjan-Meijerink Ok I´ll wait until I get some more infromation from your side concerning the C1 Controller, then I will decide between SilverFox and Carpe Iter.
Thanks

@Corjan-Meijerink Hi Corjan, I already got my C1 Controller and I installed everthing needed
Functions with Control Joystick

Re-center by klick upwards
No function so far when clicking down ?Functions with the panning Joystick
Map moving to the left, right, up and downWould be great to be informed whether there are some other functions available, eg. press and hold >> by one or both Joysticks.
Thanks in advance

@Peter-Zehentreiter Hello Peter I have also the C1 controller, are you using it on the T865 tablet? I can pan in all directions with the right controller but the left controller doesn't do anything, I'm wondering if it needs to be in F1 or F2?
Thanks Jay -
@Jay-Salvo Hello Jay, I am using the controller on a Android mobile phone.
The My Route App needs to be in F2 Mode
The panning Joystick (on the right) allows me to move the map in every direction.
The control Joystick ( on the left) allows me to zoom in and to zoom out, by moving forward or backward the Joystick.
I can switch the moving direction of the control Joystick ( means you can decide by your self whether zoom in or out when moving the Joystick forward or backward.
By clicking up the Controller Joystick, the Map is re- centering.
For Google Maps you need to be in F1 Mode
It is mandatory to install the Button app from the SilverFox Webste.
I also recommend to do the firmware update , explained on the SilverFox Website as well.
I will make a short video today and will provide it here.
Regards
Peter -
@Peter-Zehentreiter Thanks Peter, I look forward to the video.

@Jay-Salvo I bought the T865x recently and currently in doubt to order the C1 controller. MRA works flawless and much better and cleaner than on my previous AA device. But a BT controller would make the combination just that extra little bit more convenient and safer. I'll wait for Corjan's test before I'll decide.
I have read that previous Silverfox controllers had more input options, such as holding down a button for longer, for example, but I'm curious to read your experiences so far. TIA -
@Kenny-Thierens Hi Kenny, well I had a play today , I couldn't get it to zoom in using either F1 or F2., tried everything, my C1 uses the wired connection, it works brilliantly in DMD2 and you do have 4 separate options on the left joystick and 4 on the right since the update but only the right joystick works currently for panning in MRA. In Waze, Googlemaps it has full functions on both joysticks. Even on Kurviger it had 7 way controls and it states on the website it would be just follow mode and panning. I'm not sure who needs to implement something to address the problem, either Silverfox of MRA.

The C1 Controller has also additional input option like press and hold.
F2 Mode
Control Joystick up => letter 'C' for centering the map
Control Joystick up and hold => letter 'D' extra functions on some appsControl Joystick forward => character '-' and KEY_NUM_MINUS
Control Joystick forward hold + => letter 'A'Control Joystick backward => character '=' and KEY_NUM_PLUS
Control Joystick backward and hold - => letter 'B'Control Joystick downward => letter 'E'
Control Joystick downward and hold => jumps to F1 mode and send letter 'X'I am impressed by the precise operation, also the pressure points of the joystick controller are absolutely top.
But of course I am also curious what Corjan has to say

@Jay-Salvo Hi Jay, I don't know if this is relevant for you, I had to install the Button App to get Apps of the F1 Mode running "Google Maps" Riku from SilverFox told me, I have to make sure that the cable connection has to be disabled.
You are writing, that you are using the cable connection maybe that is causing some problems on your side ?
