How can I turn off recalculate.” I just want a line to follow and I’ll figure out how to get to it if I get off route.

@artbone this isn’t possible yet, the request is on our list of suggestions 🙂

@Corjan-Meijerink That’s disappointing. I was really impressed with the new format but not being able to keep it from constantly trying to go back to a waypoint and urging me to make a u-turn is a deal breaker. Is there some way to just follow a track as you would do off-road.

@artbone You could just follow the track line but you’ll have no turn by turn instructions or visual instructions.
Open a route and click the position indicator twice. As you move the map and your position move with you.

@artbone, Why is it disappointing if your navigation leads you back to the route you planned. I would think that's exactly the purpose of navigation. I can't wrap my head around that. Don't forget that disabling recalculation on a Garmin mainly is a workaround for not messing up the track, because it can't handle that. MRA is smarter and can handle it way better.

@artbone you can also select to skip the next waypoint (or a number of waypoints) so the navigation recalculates to a waypoint you’ve selected further along your route.

In off-road driving, recalculating the route can be a real disaster. I understand perfectly the proposal of my colleague. The option he suggests @nick carthew is currently the only solution. But it would be interesting to be able to choose the option of not 'recalculating'.

@b0hd1, Off-road, following a track (because route is not possible) you will have no turn by turn options (because there are no roads to turn into). So I really don't understand the difference with the option @Nick-Carthew proposed.

That's the topic. Many times, there are different options for off-roading. At least in the areas where I do it.

@Con-Hennekens Well, I was riding a track today using MRA Next and Chigee (Android Auto) and when we stopped at a restaurant, 25 meters away from the route, it recalculated our remaining 54 kilometers into a route of 160 km! Recalculating just doesn't work properly and I would do a far better job myself if the route line was stable on the map. I followed my co riders and after 5 km's it came to its senses and was finally back on track.
It is simply not good this way and unusable

@Erik-ten-Kate, I am not going to respond on a thread aged over a year. If you have questions I suggest starting a new topic. Many things in the app have changed during a whole year, including the way auto-skipping works.

@Erik-ten-Kate you were navigating a track. Tracks only have start and end points. If you stopped and had to restart the only option for the track is to start from the beginning. After some time of deviating from the track MRA was able to pickup your location on the track. This is one of the reasons most prefer using a route.
The MRA team is looking at trying to make recovery from track deviation much better.

@RetiredWingMan Thanks, that makes the problem clear. although it is disappointing MRA apperently can't do this right (yet?).

🤣 Yes I do, but the tone of your message was not really inviting for an answer. Besides that, the thread is over a year old, and your question is therefore an unrelevant for a followup.

Also good to take into account: follow the line does not work offline. So in the mountains it's no use 😋
