Road Speed Limits
-
Love MyRoute but there is always room for improvement.
I planned a route on MyRoute with nice country roads but was disappointed after riding the route with the number of 20mph, 30mph and 40mph road speed limits within my route.
My suggestion for a great improvement that most riders would love to have is to include a road speed limits map layer and/or options to avoid 20, 30 or 40mph speed limits. This will improve route planning 100 fold and as far as I know you will be the first one to offer it.
I believe the speed limits maps are already available and currently used more and more on vehicles with ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance) systems (I think HERE maps offer speed limit maps).
This could be expensive and possibly require an additional charge but I am sure a lot of us will be happy to pay for.
How about it?
Thanks

@Chris-m, I think the general idea to avoid cities and village would do. Especially in western Europe a lot of urban streets are limited to 30kph and it is quickly getting worse. But suburban roads very seldomly have speedlimits under 60kph.

could not argue it would be an important feature, but definitely a nice to have. Certainly in the UK I seem to regularly come across restrictive speed limits, 30 kph equivalent etc, in apparently rural areas.

I also think this is a great idea. In the UK even the smallest country village can decide it wants a 30mph speed limit (England & Scotland) or 20 (Wales). We are a population-dense nation and even on a ride that never hits a town we often have to slow for a small village. It would be perfect to know the speed limit at a point on a road - we could then decide to route elsewhere if that point is in a slower speed area.
The data is available but I guess there may have to be an uplift in fees to cover the cost. I for one would be happy to go Gold to get this facility!
