    Hello,

If I share a route with “Friends”, can those friends modify my original version of the route? Same question for “Public”. Thanks.

@Alan-Bowen, they can not change YOUR route, but they can copy it into their own library and change that one.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

If you share routes with friends, they are able to download/copy your routes for their own use. And as such, they can modify those routes. But they cannot modify routes under your account directly.

When i go to the folder wioth routes of some friends of mine and i select a route, i have ton use the upperright button Gebruik route (use route) to download my friends route into my own MRA route folder and modify it.
I am not able to modify any route directly in my friends folder.

            As the other poster noted…

Unfortunately (!). It is very difficult to plan a trip for a group of friends WITH them.
FOR them it’s not a big deal.. but if anyone wants to add some POIs, or wants to see this, or that, it becomes a hassle.
It should be a possibility to plan ONE route together.

@No6671 I you can't get together with your friends then consider using something like Zoom where everyone can see the route and suggest changes which can be made by the route owner.

I know. But it’s awful. In these days working together on one document is not a problem anymore. And nobody needs to zoom, just to correct/ annotate or change something.

@No6671, In a word document or excel sheet everyone can work on their own part. It would become a big mess when every one is editing the same sentence. That is how working on the same route would be. It would be possible though to give people different tasks, like one is shaping the route, another is adding POI for tankstops or lunch, and a third person adds some information to waypoints. However, the second and third task are only really worthwhile when the shaping of the route is done and agreed on.

@Nick-Carthew Interfering could end up in ruining your precious creation. You don’t have to be a control freak to not want this to happen.

                        I understand you guys. ☺️
It’s only, there should be the option to do so. Don’t know what kind of coworkers you all have, hahaha, but in my case it works well. 🙂
Even with zoom or so, one could alter the route, while all others see it life. It’s dead simple.

I'm the OP. Thanks for all the replies. When I posted this question my concern was that I didn't want anyone changing routes I've curated. There could be "sharing permissions" of view-only and edit and it could work like a shared Google doc or Office file where people could collaborate and edit the file - that could be handy for trip planning, but I'd want the option.

Follow-up question, if I share a route today and a friend "uses" my route and copies it into their library, it's a point in time copy? If I change the route tomorrow the new changes will not be applied to my friends copy? Yes?

Correct, once the route is in your friends library it is their copy of your route.
