You don't get a message that you have taken the wrong road. Because the road you take is never wrong. There is always a reason for it. A mistake is also a reason.
With recalculation on, you often get an advice to make a U-turn. I don't use recalculation off. But I can image you won't get any directions at all when you are off-route. You switched it off, therefore it is your responsibility to get back on the route. Not your navigation.

Of course it's my responsibility, but what I'm asking is for the navigator to tell me immediately when I've made a mistake, as all other navigators do. I don't think that's an unreasonable request.

Can I ask why you switched recalculation off?
In my mind it is a typical thing from the zumo's. In a proper device or app it is unnecessary to switch recalculation off. The function is there to help you.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)

Because with recalculation enabled (but also when it is disabled), there is no warning that you have left the planned route, and if you don't notice that the route has been recalculated when you look at the screen again, you mistake the new route for the one you should have taken. Last time, it made me go around a mountain to return to the village where I took the wrong road, adding about ten kilometres to my journey. when all it would have taken was to immediately notify me to make a U-turn within 100/200 metres of where I took the wrong turn. Another time, on an almost figure-eight route, when I took the wrong turn, it recalculated the route, making me take the final part of the route, cutting out a large part of the route I had planned, and since I didn't know the area well, I realised it too late.

I have a habit of glancing at the screen after taking a turn, to make sure I went the right way, especially in situations that can sometimes be unclear (like Y splittings in mountainesque areas). That's what the screen is for.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

i agree 100% with @ginogino . Its easy to miss an instruction to go left or right because you get so many during a tour. But a very distinctive sound or spoken text of some sort to inform you that you have left the route would be noticed much easier. Like for example the sound you hear when approaching a speed camera.
More people in this forum have requested this feature. Of coarse I dont know if this is possible.

I think that would be possible when attached to a recalculation. Whenever a recalculation occurs, a sound gets audible. But in my hones opinion, I think that it would drive many people mad ๐Ÿ˜‰ . Next question would be to hear a sound whenever you rejoin a route...

@Con-Hennekens But if you nicely follow the route a recalculation is never needed I hope (unless a road closes while driving).
Such a sound of coarse should be enabled first in settings if it is wanted.

I have seen a brown bar sometimes telling me that a route has been recalculated but I haven't understood yet why or when it is happening.
What I have noticed is that the app sometimes sends me back while being on the route (which I also consider a recalculation) when I skip a shaping point but thats another story....

Hearing it many times means that you are taking the wrong route many times, so the problem is not the navigator but the driver.
Many apps or navigators clearly state that recalculation is being performed, not with a sound that can be easily misunderstood but with a voice alert. I don't see why the myroute app shouldn't do the same.

@ginogino, Sometimes detours are deliberate. To be clear, I am not against your suggestion. Merely pointing out it is a good idea to add a possibility of silencing it.
