I am slowly developing my workflow for planning with MRA.
I use routes I have travelled in the past as a ‘painting template’ for my new routes. As I rarely ride an old route 1 to 1, the function of using an old track as a route is of little use to me.
      I proceed as follows:
To plan a day trip in the Harz Mountains, for example, I use the overlay function to place 2 to 3 old routes on the screen and then click together a new route from these templates.
As the display of the old routes (coloured via the colour selector) and the new route (black) are the same width, they cover each other, so it doesn't matter which one is on top.
It would be nice if you could switch the overlay routes on and off with a click. If I click away an overlay route, it is completely deleted from the screen and I have to show it again in several steps.
I hope I was able to explain my idea clearly.

@Thomas-Schäfer Have you tried using the route line transparency option in the toolkit?

I have tried this, but it reduces the visibility of my planning route or sets it to zero. However, I would like to dim the routes used as an overlay.

Hi @Thomas-Schäfer I also use the overlay routes & my process is very similar to yours
a big frustration I have with this process is that the overlay routes I have carefully added are lost when I click away, it is a long proces to keep adding & re-adding the same routes
it would be nice if there was a selection like in the new POI menu where you could select the overlay to be remembered & this selection was stored with the route
