No Navigation to Destination if route was left
-
Up to now I have only ever driven with planned routes, which works very well.
Today I used the magnifying glass to find a destination. Selected direct or curvy for selection, decided in favour of curvy.
On the way I then shortened the route and drove directly towards my destination. What is happening now is very special: MRA is constantly trying to get me back on the original and calculated route! Even 50 metres from the destination, MRA wants to return to the route!
This is not what I expect from a sat nav. Can anyone reproduce this? Operating error?

Which version are you using?

@Jörgen 4.1.3-312

Ok, sounds good, there was a former version with a similar problem. If you left the track, you wouldn’t be guided back.
By the way, if you use A to B navigation you get a Route, if you use any curvy option you get a Track.
Anyway I will try to reproduce your problem.

@Jörgen Thank you Jörgen! But you agree with me that this is the simplest thing that any Medion Aldi 79.-Euro sat nav should be able to do

Sounds perfectly normal. You plan a route, if you deviate you are directed back to the route (which actually is a track, since you uses curvy options). It used to be a lot of people's frustration that, when navigating a track, the system heads to the destination directly when you deviate. Seems to be solved now

ehm, no! Not for a track. If you use a direct route, it perfectly does as you propose.

@Con-Hennekens Sorry again. It doesn't really work that way. If I deviate from the route, MRA wants to return to the calculated route a few times, 4 times? This is extremely annoying, especially in a city. Google Maps does this much better and recalculates every time I leave the route. Can I get MRA to do this?

A simple A tot B route is something else compared to pre-planned route
MRA is specialized in Pre-Planned. Google Maps is specialized in A to B routesAs far is i know. MRA does not stop when reach your destination. You must stop navigating manually.

@Kudee, Yes, the MRA app also immediately recalculates once you deviate from it. Similar to Google Maps.
-
if you use a direct route (that also means NO curvy options!) it will calculate the quickest routes to the finish, just like Google Maps.
-
if you are navigating a track (that includes a A2B route using curvy options) it will redirect you to the track in a logical manner. But not everyone's logic is the same
-
if you are navigating a route with waypoints, it will use an algorithm to decide to which next waypoint you will be redirected. This happens at the third recalculation. It is assumed that when you meticulously plan a route, you will want to ride as much as possible of it. Therefore you are not immediately redirected to the next waypoint indeed, but only after the second recalculation. It then goes to the closest waypoint ahead in the route. That CAN still be the same waypoint, but can also be one of the next waypoints (with a maximum of 10). Iirc after 5 recalculations it will not try to reach the same waypoint anymore, but usually it will have skipped it by that time anyway.
For situations in which you want to skip waypoints quicker, there is a convenient button on the screen. Personally I think this is way better than needing to revert to previously unintended auto skipped waypoints, because there is no convenient way to do that without stopping.
