@Marinus-van-Deudekom I think you missed my point. It is for via and shaping points the same. New via and shaping points are always placed at the end of the route. My suggestion is that -when you want- you can choose for an other place in the route. For example somewhere halfway.

@C-A-Kielen that’s what’ve said. If You hold down thé cursor somewhere on the route à new shaping point will be put there not a the end of the route. If You to make that shaping point a via point click on that point and chose the hand

@C-A-Kielen, what @Marinus-van-Deudekom tries to say is that when you hover your mouse directly over the existing route line (or tap on the route line on a phone/tablet) the new waypoint is indeed places between the existing waypoints. Then you can drag that waypoint on the map to the desired location.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Yes I know that. That is not my point. That works fine if you know where that point has be placed. In many cases I do not know that. So I use the "search a place" or "make a route point with coordinates" option.
First I make an overall route. Lett's say with 15 route points. From Oslo to the Northcape and back via Sweden. Then I put route points on it that I like to visit. Lett's say Trollstiken. I cannot find trollstiken on the map just by looking it. So I fill in the adres left in the upper corner "search a place" or "make a route point with coordinates" . When I use these options the new route point is always at the end of the route. So Trollstiken comes at the end. Then I have to drag it to the right place on the route. I also like to visit a museum in Røros. I do not know where to find Røros. So I use the "search a place option". Now Røros is placed at the end of the route.
The other way but more work is to delete the new route point because now I know where it has to be placed on the map and then drag the route line to the new point. As you described.
So when you use one of the "search a place" or "make a route point with coördinates" options it will be very helpful that you can choose where on the route this point is placed instead of always at the end of the route.

@C-A-Kielen now I get it. What you want in the way you want it is not an option.
Maybe you should start your route thinking of the places you definitely want to visit and build the route from there on.

@C-A-Kielen When you are on route lab and you want a new waypoint you can klick on the point you want to ad and it wil be placed at the end of the route. now in the sidebar you can choose waypoint. there you can choose the last waypoint and drag it to the place you want is to be. Indeed it would be better to have a option to place the new waypoint between waypoint you want.

@Leike-Lodiers That is what I am doing right now. When you have 150 waypoint and dragging up a new waypoint for sometimes more than 100 places takes a long time and sometimes go wrong when you lose the point.
@Marinus-van-Deudekom you make first a plan for the route and after that I look for interesting things to visit along the route.
I only made a suggestion to make an existing fine option even better.

@C-A-Kielen, I agree with you that a "move to" function for waypoints in the left column would be welcome. It is not the first time someone came up with that idea 😉

@Con-Hennekens I agree with the point the OP has made. The other posters seemed to take some time to arrive at the same place and their suggestions, whilst valid, do not address the small but annoying chore of dragging a waypoint from the end of the list to an earlier numerical position. As a layman, it would seem a fairly straightforward thing to include in a future update … but what do I know?

UPDATE - I have just tried this in a route - using an IPad, a double tap on the route with my finger and, hey presto, a new waypoint appears, consecutively numbered. I stand corrected

FURTHER UPDATE - Ignore my last update, that only applies to adding a further waypoint on the existing route, not to creating a waypoint at a location the route doesn’t already visit. (Sad face)

You can drag the new route point or move it with the crosshairs to the desired location. It will remain in numerical order.

Indeed, tapping ON the route line aads a point IN BETWEEN the existing ones.

You were right with your first update. It looks like your tapping was not accurate enough. I think it helps if you zoom in further.
