Navigation question.

I have set up a test route to use in the navigation part of MRA, I know the route, and the waypoints / shaping points are marked spot on, for when I am reading the map / screen on my BMW TFT display. I have added comments to every point, I.E (turn left at traffic lights - petrol station - coffee stop) you get the picture. So now out running the test and to my surprise, I am getting the notification anything up to a mile before the marker, why is this happening as the markers are still in place.
Anyone able to give me an answer on this please, as my phone is in my pocket and not on view.
Thank you.

@Ian-Street by design waypoint notes are announced way before you reach the waypoint (2km for via, 750m for shaping) so you get the message before arriving rather than just after passing.

Personally, I think 2km is too early for via points, 1.5km would be better. Even If the note has the maximum of the 512 characters (including spaces) the entire note would still be able to be read aloud before reaching the via point position.

@Corjan-Meijerink Thank you for your update, I will now know what to change in my route planning.

What about the idea to make this configurable? Small setting item in the configuration area ?Tom

What really is the issue of being slightly early? That’s better than just too late anyway.
You now know what’s coming up

@Peter-Schiefer, usually there is visible confirmation of where the VIApoint actually is. You must look out for the entry of a parking entry on the road, not at the countdown of the distance counter
The difference with reaching the destination is that it is a navigational guidance, Like turn left at the traffic light. A waypoint announcement is no navigational guidance. I like having navigational guidance repeated at the moment your actually need to follow it, but I would hate having waypoint notes repeated twice or thrice...

I do not ignore arguments, I value them, and weigh them against my own arguments, against my thoughts about the current situation, against how things are likely thought about during development and against general consensus. I could as easily blame you for ignoring my arguments . I think I clarified above why things are different for waypoints notes, compared to navigational directions from the technical point of view. You don't need to feel attacked by what I answer. I am just expressing my views, like you are expressing yours. Obviously your and my views are often miles apart.Back on topic: Yes, me too have no clue why the difference between the distance of announcements for SP and VP. I have some trust though in that the devs have been thinking about that before implementation. I can only guess that notes for VIA points are rated more important over the usually just informative notes on shaping points. Personally I don't think it's worth a lot of discussion. I would not want to have anything changed before knowing the reason behind it.

Thank you for everyone who has made a comment on this post, I will take on board what has been said and will adjust the points as required.
Everyone, please keep up the great work that is being done, as without the feedback, good and bad, nothing would ever move forward.
