Auto zoom in Android Auto and Apple Carplay
-
I'm am pretty sure that MRA is aware of the autozoom problem in Android Auto.
But is there a kind of roadmap when this will be fixed?
I did a few tours the last few days and the autozoom in urban area was pretty annoying. In urban area there are a lot of sideways and with the current zoomlevel it is pretty hard to see where to turn exactly.
The current zoomlevel shows an area of roughly 3 km2 in a urban area where an area of around 300 m2 (or less) close the crossing where you need to take a turn is more preferable. Then you see exactly what you need to see. -
@M-Schrijver Through the settings, you can adjust the zoom level yourself. Did you try that already?

this one - - / - / +- / + / ++
best with a picture of the result.
For me it looks more like a mysterie -
Those options only works in the app on your smartphone. Not in Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
The zoomcorrection level gives you the opportunity to correct the default zoomlevel. "+" means more zoomed in compared to the default level . "-" means more zoomed out compared to the default level.
The Tilt level correction changes the angle of the "bird" view.

@Peter-Schiefer Have a look here:
-
Jörgen, danke, also ++ zoomt am tiefsten rein. Mal sehen, ob sich dass auf dem CarPlay schirm auch zeigt.
-
@M-Schrijver those corrections are definitely also applied to CarPlay / Android Auto!
-
If so. Then they don't work.
Maybe a bit. Let's say 10% of the effect it has on the smartphone itself
-
An example:
At this crossing i need to take a turn to the left to a road just before the main crossing.
Because of bad zoom level, you can not always see good enough what is meant.
This is more or less the normal zoom level in Android Auto when reaching a crossing.
The screenshot below has a much better overview of the situation. But this seems not possible.
What i miss.
The closer you get to a crossing, the further it zooms in on the crossing. Until the height of the screen shows a scale of around 20 meters -

Me too, I have the impression that the effect is not so much.
I have actually two options with CarPlay.
Ford Focus 2024 with the big 14“ Sync4 Display,
Beside missing things limited by CarPlay or not yet integrated by MRA the visibility of the route himself is OK. Nevertheless, the icons for SPs and POI (Hand) are small and it is not easy to hit them by speed adjustment. As repeatedly mentioned, I miss a verbal and visible countdown which Garmin offer. The second CarPlay option I have is on an 2016 SLC Audio 20 with 8“ Display limmited in addition with the CarPlay side bars. It works similar to the Focus, but with the size here the missing verbal Info for POis is more critical. The other disadvantage, no touch screen on the Audio 20, moving the screen needs handling with a turn/press knob at the center console.
Here I have perhaps the plan to buy a new iPad mini, my iPad mini I have is from 2013 and MRA crashed with the latest possible IOS 12 and perhaps to weak processor.
Why perhaps such not cheap solution.
First full view on all Infos MRA presents. Second
Experience of two trips at high season, per random close to Munich. I get in 2019 and in 2020 in traffic jams on which my Garmin traffic and also the TT based traffic of the Audio 20 Autopilot Navi gets crazy. Every few minutes new proposals and route corrections. On the last tour we drove real in circle arround the Intaldreieck for about 40 minutes, partly back to Salzburg instead of Munich.
At the end I used my iPad, iPhone, my wife was driving and I adviced where to drive by the overview in the map wide surround all the red and yellow jamed roads.
With the iPad mini, fixed at the position of the radio display, I can in such circumstances quick switch from MRA to Google Maps or Apple to see what is the best, perhaps a bit longer way by setting marks on the map and direct routing point to point like I see it here.
On special days or big accidendts all the traffic info didn‘t really help. My experience on my job travels and on such holiday trips in 12 years on the road. -
Update 4.1.3 will have the ability to turn off zoom corrections for speed / maneuver distance

@M-Schrijver I agree...zoom levels/consistency, even when ++ all the way, does not give a very good idea of upcoming turns/exits. Hope this is on the list to improve.
