Expanding does not work
-
@Adam-Sobanski Interestingly, when using the OSM planning map, the expanded route points are all added to before the original RP6.
@Nick-Carthew
hi Nick, thanks for testing this. Now HERE Map works with expanding. Earlier this morning it did not.
However, it is a MRA recommendation to create curvy scenic routs by-
Creating them in TomTom
-
Expanding them with additional waypoints to ensure it does not get changed by HERE
-
Switch to HERE in order to allow navigation
That is a bit frustrating

I have just created a new route in the TomTom map.
Start and end point selected
Winding route option - Average
Expand waypoints to 60
Without any problems.unfortunately it sometimes happens that extending the waypoints does not work, no matter which map you use

Hi Hans,
Thanks for your response. If it didn’t work only occasionally, I could live with it, yet since yesterday I have tried 4 maps always created from scratch, letting MRA define the route between start and end point. Thus the waypoint were set by MRA and in none of the maps I could expand. This is difficult to accept as it is a gold functionality which comes at a premium price.
Any workaround to that bug? -

Any workaround to that bug?@Adam-Sobanski I am not using this function very often, but it worked for me every time. Just checked with your route as well.

OK. Will do so this evening. Thanks for the prompt help.
Will report back whether it worked -

I possibly found the issue: I had 3 routes with the same name, deleted 2 of them and now it works.
Not sure if that was the reason, if so, MRA developers may think about either preventing users using the same route name twice or at least warn them that it may cause troubles -

Hi Hans,Just tried in now one more time, for Tom Tom it does not work (again).
- Removed duplicate routes with same name
- Deleted history and cookies
With HERE it works, with TomTom it doesn’t. Btw. It also does not work with the MRA Browser that is integrated in the App, neither in Chrome nor in Safari on Mac nor iOS (iPad)

It works for me on an iPad Pro.
Used the Tom Tom Map to plan a windy/Curvey Route then expanded on the Tom Tom Route then switched it to the Here map. -

Hi all,Thanks for showing me that it work for you guys, yet, it doesn’t at my end.
Just created one more public route https://www.myrouteapp.com/de/social/route/7980799?mode=share
Same issue here: no expanding in TomTom -

You are limiting the software too much to be able to expand in my opinion.
If you only check Avoid the highways, then expand and then set winding and height. -

Hi Hans,
I could (hopefully permanently) solve the issue: by- Deleting web-data from ALL my browsers on all my hardware (Mac, iPad, iPhone)
- Deleting and re-installing the MRA Apps from my iPhone & iPad --> these seem to use a browser for the route planning / editing but I did not find a way to delete the cache / history here
- I also deleted (just to be sure) all my routes - weren't that many
Now it seems to work. many thanks for your patient and prompt help and tipps - very appreciated!
Regarding your last recommendation:
The settings that you suggest to turn off, are proposed by one of the MRA tutorials (I think it was a tutorial or may be a forum recommendation by one of the experts here) to create nice and curvy motorbike routes:
Namely to: plan the route in TomTom by selecting hight attitude values, choosing a winding route, avoiding highways etc., then to ad many waypoints to 'nail' the route for its transfer to HERE to make it navigable - so when this does not work, the whole MRA approach would be useless for me, as this is exactly what I want: curvy, scenic routes for my motorbike rides.
Currently, Calimoto (competition to MRA) has IMO the best algorithm for quick planning of really nice tours - but it has other limitations, that's why I choose MRA. -

Hi Hans, I was just wondering where I got the idea to do all the settings for my problem route. It is indeed in the FAQs
https://support.myrouteapp.com/support/solutions/articles/12000041930-how-do-i-create-a-route-with-high-windingness-Not sure if this was the root-cause (route-cause ha ha ha) but may be, but then the proposed solution should be either tested or removed
Regards, Adam

@Adam-Sobanski I am having the exact same issue, unable to expand using the tomtom map. the Here map works fine. The tomtom map has always expanded for me when I created routes in the past but, now has stopped.
Did you ever find a solution?
Thanks
