GPX 1.0 or 1.1?

Hi, can someone please tell me the difference between GPX 1.0 and GPX 1.1? I have tried to google this but the explanations are over complicated so it just bamboozled me even further.

@Craig-4 So as not to bamboozle you. GPX1.1 is an improvement of GPX 1.0. Your GPS unit will probably support GPX1.1 so thatβs the one to use.

Hello Craig,
In version 1.1 of the GPX format, more attributes can be saved.

Hi,
I use BMW Navigator V which is a rebranded Garmin. I tested GPX1.0 and 1.1, and both are accepted by Navigator V. However there is a significant difference how the device handles the waypoints. In case of 1.0 each waypoint is alerted, meaning, that if I miss one, the device keeps trying to navigate me back to the waypoint, until I skip it. In case of 1.1 the waypoints are considered only as 'shaping points'. This means, that if I miss a waypoint the navigation simply continues without pushing me to go back to the missed point, so the missed points are skipped automatically. (Normally I switch off automatic recalculation of routes)
Of course I don't know how other navigation devices work, all these are valid only for BMW navigator V. -

I was using always gpx 1.1 but newer Garmin396 has used WP of MRA always as "shaping point". I was verry unhappy with this, because so, the WP are not used as "intermediate target". Means, you will not be informed on screen about distance and time to next "intermediate target".
Now I will use gpx 1.0 next time and will report here...

You can of course us 1.0 which gives you waypoints, then once the route is in the Nav, you can change waypoints to shaping points or visa versa from within the Nav.
