    Hi,
    I created a route into the mountains following real small roads. The app calculates my driving time at an average speed of 65 km/H which is too fast for me.
    How can I lower the speed and get more accurate expected driving time?
    thx for your suggestions
    drive safe !!

      @van-herck-luc Impossible. The speed limits are incorporated into the map data.

        @van-herck-luc

        The speeds in MRA (and, of course the driving time) are not modifiable to match real world conditions.

        I use BaseCamp to make up for this deficiency. This doubles the effort (plan in MRA, save into BaseCamp, rework duration of stops, etc., then export into GPS) but allows BaseCamp to apply the proper Activity profile (motorcycle, car, etc.) which you can modify to match expected speeds.

        I find the BaseCamp trip duration (and expected time of arrivals) to me much more accurate than MRA.

        Good luck!

            I've never had 2 identical "predicted" driving/riding times. Compare BaseCamp to MRA, it's different. Compare MRA to one GPS, it's different. Compare MRA to another GPS, it's different again. I for myself count on my Zümo 595 GPS as being the most accurate of all predictions I have available (MRA, BaseCamp, and 2 GPS's).

            You may be helped making some "staff-check-correction-factor" based on experience...

              @sudolea

              Sure, but the thing about BaseCamp is that it allows you to modify your activity profile to more closely match your normal rides. You can tune it however you want for speeds on highways, secondary roads, etc.

              I'm never looking for perfect predictions, but MRA is way off and very tough to use for any kind of predictions in my experience.

                @larry-stenger You're right, and I know of that fine-grained speed adjustation possibility in BaseCamp. I just never have taken the effort to try to tweak it, as the "standard" riding time prediction of my Zümo 595 is accurate enough for me. I've even noticed that one ride can be significantly different from another one (e.g., you may feel more spirited), which may make a difference too. To me, this is all reason enough to "just" stick with my Garmin Zümo 595's predictions...

                Everyone chooses his own method. Yours may be better for him, mine may be. I just gave the topic starter my hint of the method I used for myself. It has "just" the value of a hint, nothing more ☺

                  Very true and I apologize if the tone of my note was harsh. I am in the middle of a long ride preparation myself this week (7000 miles/11000km over 3 weeks) and am in the middle of taking the route (from MRA) over to BaseCamp (riding day by riding day) in order to get both an accurate transfer to my NAV VI and also get reasonable time estimates.

                  I originally viewed MRA as a potential replacement for BaseCamp in my route planning process but now I envision it only as a first step.

                  Have a great day and ride safe!
