When I open one of my own existing routes, its last modified date changes even if I don't make any changes. This quite annoying when I just want to have a look at old routes, because it doesn't just change the date to something that isn't really true, but this also causes them to appear on top of several lists in the apps, as though it was a route I recently worked on.

Note that the date gets updated even when there is no interaction with the route at all (other than opening it), no zooming, no clicking or anything that could be construed as a change.

I haven't tested if the MRA app behaves in the same way, but I expect it does.

I would like to be able to view my own routes without that leading to an updated last modified date.

@Herko-ter-Horst Think of it as ‘last viewed’ rather than last changed.

Sure, I can do that, but what purpose does that serve? I don't think the moment I last viewed a route is particularly interesting information that needs to be stored with the route, especially if this replaces the date and time that I actually changed something in that route (which is much more interesting to me).

In addition, because the apps uses this "last modification/viewed" date to sort the list of routes for navigation, so the most recent one appears on top, this really isn't what I want/expect (in fact, I would much prefer to be able to find/browse/select my routes in the apps according to the folder structure I created, but that's a different topic).

@herko-ter-horst I agree with you. This is an error (or a bug) and needs to be fixed.

Thinking of it as a ‘last viewed’ may provide an easy escape to not register this as a bug... but for the rest serves no purpose.

It’s probably worth mentioning then for those that use MRA Navigation,(I use it occasionally) that over time your routes will be jumbled up differently.
I mention this because MRA Navigation does not have the Folder Structure like MRA Planner.
If you are like me and literally have hundreds of Routes it can be a nightmare to find a specific route in MRA Navigation. (For me a combination of ageing eyes and small text on the phone)
You can add a route to an event to force it to the top of the list but I suspect the easiest option will be to go into a route in MRA Planner and just edit the first waypoint a tiny tiny bit in full zoom.
This will put the route that you are planning to use on that day at the top of the list.

@steve-lynch said in Bug report MRA-Web: last modified date changes when no changes were made:

The immediate solution is to make events from your multi-day trips. The single-trips can be easily made visible by moving a waypoint a bit, so the taday will be the new date "last viewed" 😉

The longer term solution will be that MRA is developing the folder-structure to be replicated to Navigation. I believe that this is a work in progress. Maybe someone @MRA can elaborate?

                        @con-hennekens

Yes I am aware of the events and the small edit options as I mentioned them both above.
The real issue is though, the requirement to have an internet connection to pull the route into MRA Navigation.
@PAD-0 suggested an option in another thread, to “Install” a route into MRA Navigation.
In the UK Mobile data is generally pretty good but having the option to embed routes in MRA Navigation would be a great long term solution.

@steve-lynch perhaps the mobile app of the routeplanner (that does recognise folders) could be made to communicate with the navigation app? I guess that this would solve the problem?
