Hallo,

Is er iemand de Thork Racing t865x tablet al uitgebreid gebruikt?
Marinus van Deudekom heeft er een mooie blog over gemaakt maar ik was eigenlijk nieuwsgierig naar zijn ervaring na bijna één jaar...
Welke remote gebruiken jullie en waarom?

Ik gebruik tablet ongeveer een jaar. Met een Silverfox remote.
Ben erg tevreden over toestel, vooral omdat het meer is dan een navigatie apparaat.
Ik gebruik het ook op vakantie voor routes plannen (met MRA), whatts app, etc.
Er zit tegenwoordig ook een routeplanner bij DMD2, maar nog erg basic en ik denk niet dat het zo uitgebreid wordt als met MRA. Meer gefocust op off road rijden.
Ik gebruik tablet soms zelfs met DMD2 routeplanner en MRA tegelijk actief.

I also use the T865X. Have been using it for over 1 year now. Great device!
MRA is my go to for navigating and I use a custom remote that I built.
It is basically a bluetooth keyboard with keys mapped like a SilverFox.
I replaced a broken Garmin XT and I would do it again tomorrow if I had too.

The only issue I have is that MRA will "restart" when my remote disconnect or reconnect when it is in the foreground. That happens when I shut the bike off to gas up or eat. It's a minor annoyance but I use Macrodroid to put MRA in the background when the power to the tablet is turned off. That way, my navigation/track recording is not interrupted. I have a support ticket on this. Hopefully, they will find and fix the issue.(Happens on my Samsung Galaxy as well)

@Mils Ik heb de tablet dit hele seizoen gebruikt en ik ben nog steeds verschrikkelijk tevreden over de tablet. Ik heb het ondertussen onder alle weersomstandigheden getest en hij heeft me geen enkele keer in de steek gelaten. Super goed afleesbaar scherm. Ik gebruik MRA niet in de full screen mode omdat ik op die manier om andere apps kan starten zonder MRA te hoeven afsluiten. Het scherm is zo groot dat dat ook heel makkelijk kan.
De SilverFox H1 heeft mijn setup compleet gemaakt en is voor mij een perfecte aanvulling. Het scherm bedienen met handschoenen aan is niet altijd succesvol en met die remote kun je de meest essentiële zaken doen.
Ik heb ik gekeken naar de navigatie module van Thork maar dat komt nog niet in de buurt van de mogelijkheden van MRA. Logisch want hun primaire doel is off road navigatie en dat heb ik met mijn GolgWing niks te zoeken.
Het kost een paar centen maar dat is het zeker waard.

Ik heb gelezen dat je de Silverfox via bluetooth moet verbinden en MRA niet goe werkt als je de kabel gebruikt.
Zou dit zo ook met de originele controler van Thork Racing zijn of zou met deze wel alle functies werken?

@Mils Pretty sure that any remote hardwired to the DMD-865X would not work with anything other than the apps supported by the "manage" app (Formerly the Button App) since it appears that the remote goes thru that app to send commands if wired. Silverfox uses the same DMD app once wired.

@Mils I have been using the T865-X for two years now, because after decades of use, Garmin devices had left me very disappointed outside Germany.
Even the Garmin devices in the Tread series were no better (they are Garmin, after all) and far too expensive. That's why I chose DMD and not the more heavy Carpe Iter.

Why the T865-X and not the T665? Because the small screen is harder to read when driving off-road.

Why an Android device? Because I can use my preferred apps at the same time.
For my journeys, I create explicitly planned routes with MRA Route Planner and navigate using the MyRoute app.
This works really well.
For off-road sections (like ACT, TET) in between, I use tracks I have received and navigate with them using the DMD2 app (because their own off-road maps are much better!). In special cases/regions, I may also use OsmAnd or LocusMap.
I use the same GPX file in several apps for this purpose simultaneously.
And for rallyes – where roadbooks are handed out – the T865-X also serves me well. Because I don't need a second device, I can display the roadbooks as PDF files on the T865-X too.

To do this, I use the Remote-2 controller from DMD as a remote controller on the handlebars.
Why not Silverfox or others? Because the 4-way button of Silverfox cannot be operated properly in shaking off-road ride! The hard 2-way switch on the DMD controller can be operated much more precisely with your thumb on the handlebars – to zoom in, or to scroll through the lines of the roadbook, line by line. And controller has a prepared cable connection, which makes it more reliablec (but can also operated by Bluetooth)!
The only drawback at present is the lack of integration of this controller into the MyRoute app.
For example, the 4-way button must be used to zoom in on the map in the MyRoute app. With all other apps, this can be done with the 2-way switch.

However, I am in communication with Corjan and the DMD developer to find a solution...

Please what do you mean with "manage app"? Which app exactly is this? I only know the "Button App". But by this, I can't setup the functions of the DMD Remote-2 controller properly to MyRoute-App.

@Mils ik gebruik de remote aangesloten via de kabel voor de 12 volt voeding maar op uitdrukkelijk advies van SilverFox het gebruik via Bluetooth. Bij DMD zeggen ze dat het via de kabel zou moeten maar ik heb proefondervindelijk vastgesteld dat via Bluetooth probleemloos werkt. Ik heb voor SilverFox gekozen vanwege de kleine bevestigings houder. Die van DMD war3n voor mijn situatie veel te groot

Ok,nice!
Kan Cor-Jan softwarematig geen aanpassing doen zodat de Silverfox volledig compatibel is bedraad?
Zou pachtig zijn omdat dit qua opstelling bij de meeste motoren de beste optie is door de smalle benodigde montage ruimte.

@Mils dat ligt niet aan Corjan maar aan DMD. Ik heb geprobeerd daar de deur open te krijgen maar kwam terecht in de discussie het ligt niet aan ons maar aan SilverFox. Een daar zeggen ze precies het tegenovergestelde.
De redenering van SilverFox vind ik persoonlijk meer argumenten bevatten een aangezien het via Bluetooth zonder problemen werkt, zag ik het nut van verder discussiëren niet meer zitten.
De ondersteuning vanuit SilverFox is echt super goed.

Jammer toch, aangezien bekabeld mij stabieler lijkt. DMD zal hun eigen controler willen verkopen zeker... Zoals gezegd is de Silverfox beter voor veel motoren door de plaatsbesparende smalle opbouw.
