Hi everyone, hope you're all well. Just got back from a blast in Wales.

I was halfway through my route navigating via GPS when I decided to open MRA Navigation as a backup.

When I pressed start it wanted to take me to the start of the route. Is there a way to chose (start from nearest point of the route) like Tomtom does?

I had to skip 36 waypoints for it to get on track.

    Thanks all 🤘🏼

I assume your using MRA Navigation Next, the Navi module inside the current latest MyRoute-app app or are you still using the "old" navi app?

In the "Next" case, simply long press and hold the waypoint you like to start from and the navi recalculates from that waypoint onwards. In next there is no option to explicitly change the "method of starting point" like was implemented in the previous nav app.

You can also long press and hold on the waypoint to start from, in the "waypoint menu" under the settings menu when you're already in navigation mode.

@Stefan-Hummelink you're right looks like it does work. The issue I had was when I long press the pop up says (Skip Waypoint?) so I never pressed yes. But it looks like it is calculating the route to the selected waypoint. Thanks so much for your help 🍻

What @JP-d mention is also something i like to have.
Yes, you can start the route by selecting a waypoint. But you need scroll/swipe first to see what the next waypoint is.
Why not an option "Select next waypoint from current (GPS) location" as starting postion.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)

I would surely see reason for that, but I can also work with the current implementation. It does not bother me, but hey, different users, different needs, right. 🤗

I think it comes down to convincing @Corjan-Meijerink to implement this feature. 😎

Or "the closest entry point" like Garmin Zumo XT...
Should not be that difficult, I would think... I hope anyway!

@Lenny-O the previous version had this or a similar option. It didn't always work well. I find that displaying the route, zoom in and long pressing the waypoint you want to start from is the easiest and works well.

@Lenny-O I was just thinking about the Garmin "closest entry point" today when using MRA Next. I didn't realize how convenient that option is until I had to figure out which waypoint number to start from instead.

Like many other things, maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it.

@JP-d @Stefan-Hummelink I had the same issue - the language confused me so I didn't choose "skip". But after reading this thread, I understand I needed to do that.

Sometimes the navigator gets confused and skips a waypoint or changes waypoints if I take a wrong turn or double back for whatever reason. In those cases, the app needs to be reminded that I didn't want to change the waypoint sequence 🙂

I just want to clarify/point out to all posters in this thread that the situational circumstance the OP wanted this function for, is one of the sole cases where one might require this. What do I mean by that? Well, in the previous nav app we had to use this function all the time when we were at i.e. a lunch stop and so we killed our navigation for each their own reasons.
What is different now then? That is the built-in RESUME option. After you have manually stopped the navigation, a big button appears on the bottom of your homescreen which allows you to resume the navigation where you left-off the last time. In all those circumstances simply resuming is the method to get back at it, without having the navi find out what the "nearest waypoint" is.

That's why this start at nearest waypoint is imho only "useful" when initially starting the route from scratch, or for the first time for that matter. "Useful" in the sense that changing the starting method to either start of route to nearest waypoint, is not significantly less work, than zooming out and longpressing the nearest waypoint your self. Im specifically writing this, because you don't always want to start at nearest waypoint so this setting requires change also along the way multiple times... I assume I don't need to tell why haha.
