Holiday in 2024 to Modana
-
Hello there
Can you help please
I am planning a trip to Modana in 2024. I will be travelling from Calais and through Germany. I would like to spend some time away from motorways while maintaining the general direction of travel. Has anyone get any suggestions of places to visit and routes to take?
Thank You Peter -

Modana
Just to help everyone, where is Modana? Or did you mean Modena?
-
@richtea999 I think he means Modena/Italy
Maybe to this place: Autodromo di Modena

@Reinhard-32 from Calais to Modena through Germany: clearly not in a hurry

Maybe trying to avoid the beautiful France and Swiss Alps?

hi @Peter-hh
below is a very basic route, for me i would add a few more curves, but it's a start and, this takes in the eifel national parc, mosel, black forest B500, which is awful now, some alpine routes , you can use MRA and work with this.
that's at least a 25-30 hr journey, if you want to use use national parks, alpine roads and windy routes through black forest etc etc add 50%
nice journey tho, if you have time, I rode something similar this year -
Cheers Peter,
maybe my personal POIs can be helpful in planning.

@paul69 @Erdna It amazes me that; in the MyRoute-app forum, neither of you chose to use the best route planner to share your routes!
And 'amazes' could be called 'an understatement'.

i am not sure what you are suggesting there. i only ever plan my routes using MRA. all my routes are public and open to sharing, and yes i do take offence, @Nick-Carthew @Rob-Veerman
i was only showing this OP, a quick and easy route and stated to use MRA to plan the route.
it is easier to take a quick screen shot of google maps than it is to go into route lab>routes>new route>plan route>save>take screen shot>then delete coz i don't actually want it.
i could have shared my route that i rode earlier in the year, but sometimes people need to work things out for themselves, this way they get better at using all things MRAhowever, it seems the he has ignored the thread anyway.

@Nick-Carthew My routes are mostly available to my friends, some are public.
But how would that help Paul? We donΒ΄t know his plans, so possibly most suggestions would be useless.
BTW: how would you share a list containing more than 600 POI, so that everybody can use them instantly? Asking for a friend.

I am quite sure no offence is intended. I think @Nick-Carthew his remark is not for your routes being public or anything. Just about the route being shared as a screenshot of GMaps instead of as a route in within the planner service we all love.

@Con-Hennekens
I would agree if somebody would have asked for a specific route with defined targets.BTW: I understand Paul is offended. IΒ΄d be too if IΒ΄d not have seen that behaviour in other forums for the last centuries. Too bad, one of them is flagged "RouteExperts" and should know better how to behave.^^

'Allo 'Allo!
I would say this is all a bit 'Much Ado About Nothing'. Supposed to be a well known comedy written by William Shakespeare somewhere around 1598 (but still a contemporary expression). It is set in Messina which happens to look a bit like Modana, the name of the subject of the topic. Come on you British forum members, don't feel offended, keep up your famous 'stiff upper lip'. -

Well the screenshot makes it a bit specific in my opinion.

I think being offended is often a choice one makes for oneself.
@Nick-Carthew explained that no offence is intended and that should be the end of it. Nick has been showing what a likeable guy he is intensively for many years on this forum. Knowing that it is almost impossible for me to feel offended by him. But can we please agree to end this discussion?
