I've been using using MRA next via iphone 13 with a 2.4amp charger on a BMW s100xr. The navigation side works perfectly and was faultless for pre planned routes in Andalucia Spain.

However, the App (version 4.0.6 - 232) drains battery strength faster than the charger can replace it. This forced me to mains charge my phone every time we stopped for any kind of break.

I know this has been a constant issue, but come on guys,!!! There needs to be a fix for this because it's quite simply not a viable method for full day navigation.

Please advise where you're at with a solution for the very near future, as I'm starting to plan my next trip,

@Charlie-Spicer I don't know if you are also a beta user. There is also a lot to say about this topic on that part of the forum. Recently, the development team there shared that they are in constant contact with the map provider Here to tackle this issue.

Try running MRA in dark mode: it's in Navigation -> Map layer settings.
That decreases battery usage because you're not lighting every pixel to near-white in colour.
        It's not a fix as such - more of a work-around.

You might also want to experiment with other Map layer settings - like no satellite, no buildings, simplified maps. I've not tried measuring those myself, but I would would expect they would all decreases the amount of CPU being used - but probably not as much as Dark mode.

@richtea999 i have done all the things you mention - and my experience shows very little-to no difference in battery consumption.

The excessive battery needs, even when phone is chaging full time, causes excessive heat from charging where the iphone will go into 'protect' mode (screen dims). If this happens on a sunny day (and there are a lot of them here in Texas), the screen is borderline unreadable.

Really hoping HERE and MRA can get this sorted. As others have said, makes one have serious thoughts for continued app use. 🤷

In comparison to some (rugged) Android devices, I believe that the readability of iPhone screens is worse under similar conditions, regardless.
A bit challenging to admit for an Apple fanboy... 😉

I have to agree again. Some time ago I almost hoped that my TomTom400 would die, now I desperately hope for this old thing to live forever. I can only use NEXT for short trips.

I fully understand the difficult position of MRA in this but unfortunately, that does not really help to solve this.

It is not difficult, it is easy, it's a hobby

@Charlie-Spicer I didn't plug my android to the charger started with 100% battery by the time I got to my coffee stop 1hr.25min later I was down to 10% I think that is excessive power consumption compared to Google maps or Wase. Updates and improvements are always welcome.
