Enhancing the ROUTES function
-
When using the ROUTES function during planning I think there are a few modifications that could make things much better.
-
To be able to order the folder the route is being selected from by name, by duration of route, by distance of route as will as the current only option of last updated.
-
To be able to select a number of routes, rather than just one at a time as it is at the moment. Ideally, the usual ctrl and shift options to select multiples would be ideal.
-
When there are multiple routes loaded into the ROUTES section, to be able to highlight one route at a time in a different colour (floro green perhaps?) so it's obvious from the other routes.
-
To be able to add a route before or after a specific waypoint rather than just the start or the end.

This is already possible - In your route library or individual folder, click the column header of the category that you wish to sort by, Name, Type, Privacy etc etc, A second click on the same column will reverse that order.
-
This has been asked for multiple times and I am sure that it will be added when the route planner gets updated.
-
I am sure that this will be an option when the website gets a major update.
-
This doesn't make much sense to me, if you need to merge routes it would either be to add at the beginning or the end and not halfway through. You could split the first route at the specific waypoint and then merge another route at that point.

@Nick-Carthew Thank you for the reply. I think my point 1 may be unclear. When I'm editing a route, and use the Routes option from the menu on the left hand side, I can see no option to sort the routes displayed to choose from. The only thing displayed is list of the names of the routes in the chosen folder.
As for number 4, I often create routes by defining the start and end, along with specific way points on the way. I then want to add "via routes" from my significant library of routes which includes things like all the major passes in the Alps and the Pyrenees. At the moment, I need to add them to either end and manually shuffle them into position, which can be a challenge when there are lots of waypoints.

I usually show them on the map as route or track, and draw my route route over the track-line for the piece of it that I want to incorporate into my route. Maybe that suits your use too?

@Con-Hennekens Thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes it will help but other times I need to plan the end to end route first then add in the options once I understand the main route and the overall timings.

I was just about to raise a suggestion for point 1 that David has asked for.
So seconded, this would be useful

It would be great to be able to view routes by folder or as a collection like in basecamp.
Have just returning to riding basecamp is great for seeing roads i haven’t ridden yet in the Peak District.
I’m currently using multiple mapping apps with the same files to get the view I want.
