Using My RouteApp when not following a route
-
I love MyRouteApp when following a planned route, but sometimes I just want to use it when I'm not following a route, mainly so I can see the speed limit on the road I'm riding, and sometimes to show me where I am in relation to other nearby roads. This facility was available in the old Navigation App. Under "Navigation and tracking" I'd click on the arrow in the top right corner, and it would ask my Route mode, then the screen would show me where I am, with the street name at the top, and the speed limit and my speed at the bottom. I miss this facility in the new MyRouteApp. please can this facility be added.

@Stephen-Kelly Yes, a free ride mode is on the list as a future update.

@Stephen-Kelly excellent suggestion

I find myself using the "old" Navigation app more than the Next app purely because of this.
Often I know where I'm going, I just want to see the current speed limit and my actual GPS speed. As you have experienced, in the Next app, you have to enter a destination to see that info.

Please be aware that the old app will soon no longer function!

Personally I very rarely free ride, but for those that do, maybe the old app should be left in place until such a time when the new app has this functionality in place, unless there is a financial reason to deprecate it?

@Lynchy67 the old app isn’t maintained / available to new users due to technical limitations. HERE is pulling the plug from some very old core implementations in that app that cannot be updated. Hence the new app

I would like to have this option as well. I routinely free ride exploring areas on my motorcycle and would like to know my speed and the current road. I'm paying for the Scenic App because it has this option, but would like to switch over to MRA completely.
Love the app and it's integration with the website.

Agreed, and it would be good if the road you are currently on would be highlighted as if it were a route. I can't remember for sure but I have a feeling that this didn't happen on the old app, so it was difficult to see at a glance where you were heading in relation to other roads.

@Frederick-Briggs-0, I think it is quite strange to highlight a road as if it were a route, if you don't navigate a route. Driving in urban area's I would get crazy over the constantly changing highlighted road...
