Tracklogs of Events/Veranstaltungen in App
-
I use the iOS App (Version 4.0.2 - 203)
I think a good suggestion woud be to see Tracklogs ALSO for Events/Veranstaltungen (beside own and Tracklogs of Friends).
This feature should be similar than it already exists for Routes.
-
Hi, can you explain why.
An Event can have 20, 50, 100 and more participant, they all should upload Tracklogs? -
@Tom-Johann, do you mean that you would like to navigate a route from an event as a track? In that case enbale this option in settings:
If you start a route, you will be asked wether to navigate as route or as track.
-
I think I did not explain my suggestion properly.
So, I'll try to explain what I mean:
When I use the App (not the Route lab in the App!) I can view Routes in following 4 categories:- my own Routes
- Routes of my Friends
- Routes of Groups I am in
- Routes of Events I am invited to
This is brilliant!
When I want to see Tracklogs I just have 2 categories available: - my own Tracklogs
- Tracklogs of my Friends
I think it would make perfect sense to also see Tracklogs of "Events I am invited to" as a 3rd category in The Tracklogs-Function of the App! This would be a simple posibility to see the Events Tracklogs with attached Fotos in the App.
-
@Jörgen, I mean seeing the tracklogs, not uploading them.
Please see my further explaination below.. -
@Con-Hennekens said in Tracklogs of Events/Veranstaltungen in App:
event as a track?
No, I mean OPENING tracklogs, my own, tracklogs of my friends, AND additionally tracklogs of Events I am invited to..
See my further explaination.. -
@Tom-Johann, Ah, I misunderstood indeed, now I understand (I think ). I don't know why I would want to look at all other peoples tracklogs for an event, but I can see it would be a nice option in some circumstances. However that would mean that participants in an event must be able to upload their tracklog to the event, or some smarter way of coupling their tracklog to the event (that includes the pictures). I am not completely sure, but I think that this makes a rather large change to the system. up to devs to look at it, and if it's worthwhile. The suggestion is good!
-
So my understanding was right, a lot of people can then upload a track log.
Yes, I believe it is a big change in the system, the rights management would be difficult, etc.
On the other hand, the event will be full of tracks, do I want this?
For me, it is no benefit, I can see track logs of my friends, this is enough. -
@Con-Hennekens, I did not mean that you should be able to see all tracklogs of all participants of an event.
What I mean is the following:
Your (organizer or participants, I dont care ) can upload tracklogs to an event.
These tracklogs are shown under (Zeitleiste / Timeline?) in the Event in the WebApp.
My suggestion is just that you should be able to see these tracklogs in the App.
Therefore there should be an additional category/icon "Events" in the App under Tracklogs where you see the tracklogs/Zeitleiste of an Event.. -
@Jörgen said in Tracklogs of Events/Veranstaltungen in App:

I am not talking about uploading tracklogs. I just whant the many people of an event having access to the Event's tracklogs/"Zeitleiste"
These tracklogs are uploaded by the organizer of an event.
These tracklogs are shown under "Zeitleiste" in GermanSo I am "just" talking about a simple access to these tracklogs (of an event) via the App.
-
@Tom-Johann, tracklogs are not "owned" by an event. What you want still requires at least the organizer of an event to upload or share his own tracklog to the event. I understand your wish, but doubt if there is a lot of interest in it. But hey, all improvements are welcome!
Since this suggestion is largely dependent on the web-platform, maybe it is better placed in that category.
-
Ok, then the owner or initiator of the event should provide these tracklogs from his account. Anyway, may be a good idea, but do we need it? I am out now.
-
I am little bit confused that I am not able to describe what I mean.
I just initiated my first event. I invited people, and copied some routes to the event.
All participant can access this event and watch all routes via WebSite AND App.
This is perfect. On the event I recorded tracklogs every day and copied these tracklogs also to the event.
The participants can view the tracklogs of the event via WebSite but NOT in the App.
Therefore my suggestion is to also see tracklogs of events under the “Tracklogs” menu in the App to avoid that participants have to use the WebSite.I know that there is a possibility through the “Route Lab” menu in the App. But this is quite complicated for the participants and it would be much easier if participants can see the tracklogs of Events in the “Tracklogs” menu.
So my question is: Why does the mobile App provides a functionality to view routes of an event BUT NOT a functionality to view TRACKLOGS of an event?
I am also involved into Software Development in my job and I think this is not a big task since the whole functionality should be already there. MyRouteApp just has to use it in the App.
-
Ok, now it is clear and understandable. You should said this from the beginning.
-
@Tom-Johann said in Tracklogs of Events/Veranstaltungen in App:

Okay, so now I understand that associating your tracklog to an event is already possible? Hmm, didn't know that, sorry for the confusion about that. In that case coding an extra tab in the tracklog menu should not be very difficult indeed.

@Corjan Meijerink / MyRoute-app Developer Team:
Did my proposal make it into the developers' backlog?
I just initiated my first event. I invited people, and copied some routes to the event.
All participant can access this event and watch all routes via WebSite AND App.
This is perfect.SUGGESTION:
On the event I recorded tracklogs every day and copied these tracklogs also to the event.
The participants can view the tracklogs of the event via WebSite but NOT in the App.
Therefore my SUGGESTION is to also see tracklogs of events under the “Tracklogs” menu in the App to avoid that participants have to use the WebSite.I know that there is a possibility through the “Route Lab” menu in the App. But this is quite complicated for the participants and the rendering is quite bad on an iPhone.
It would be much easier if participants can see the tracklogs of Events in the “Tracklogs” menu.So my question is: Why does the mobile App provides a functionality to view routes of an event BUT NOT a functionality to view TRACKLOGS of an event?
-
@Tom-Johann Okey, now I actually understand it.
Groups never have tracklogs.
Within events, the organiser(s) can manually add tracklogs to them. The old "MyRoute-app Navigation" app used to add tracklogs automatically to events if you drove a route from that event
So long story short, this is quite an unused feature and therefore not properly migrated to the new app in all honesty.
I therefore also not know in what timespan this feature will be added, if at all again.I do however understand the wish to have it!
I'll make sure we'll discuss it internally. -
@Corjan-Meijerink, I don't know why, but I have the impression that I am not really able to tell what I mean!
I am NOT talking about Groups.
I am NOT talking about automatic adding tracklogs to events.I know that organisers can add tracklogs manually to events. This is absolutely fine.
When I do this, all participants can watch these tracklogs including photos.BUT: They have to use the WebSite or Route Lab which is quite complicated for the participants of envent.
The organiser can see his tracklogs also in the App under "Tracklogs" under his "own" Tab.So my SUGGESTION is that participants of events can see the Tracklogs of events also in the App under "Tracklogs" under a NEW Tab "Events"
Same feature already exists in the App for Routes!
The possibility of showing Tracklog in the App (only own Tracklogs) is also alrady existing in the App.The only missing part is to include the "Events" Tab under Tracklogs!
I think Tracklogs with pictures especially make sense for participants of events. Therefore I think this feature wourld be really usefull.Hope I could explain what I mean
Many thanks.
Tom -
@Tom-Johann No I totally understand what you mean
The reason it's not there - is because it's very underused. Myself, and others, were even under the impression that events did not have tracklogs.
So yes, I understand the request.
But no, not sure when -
@Corjan-Meijerink,
oh I see, you doubt that tracklogs in events generally make sense.
My view: tracklogs ONLY make sense in events because:- watching own tracklogs might be a bit booring
- watching tracklogs of friends might be a bit uninteresting especially if there are many tracklogs
So I think the only reason why it makes sense, is to see the nice tours you had with your friends, which should be coverd in the events you participated.
And hey, btw. you did implement this function but just on the WebSide!
Nevertheless, many thanks for you quick feedback
