Hi. I recently became a member of MRA with Gold subscription and I find it brilliant for my navigation needs to use with my Garmin Zumo XT, with Trip Planner function.
Mostly I use Chrome on my Windows computer to create new routes and modify exiting, and then I open the MRA app on my mobile phone to export it to Zumo XT through Garmin Drive. But sometimes I would need to create new route when I am on the go, using my Samsung android tablet. I don't like to use Chrome to do this, because on Android you cannot run Chrome in full screen and the top address pane uses too much screen. So I use MRA for Android, but I don't have any option for creating new routes. There is a button for "Destination" or "Round Trip", but there I cannot create route just a "where to" navigation. There is also an icon (drop and +) with MRA Routeplanner on the Andorid app, that is the same icon as the icon on the webpage for creating the new route, but it is somehow linked with Navigation Next, to which I don't have paid subscription and therefore the button doesn't work.

So how does one actually create a new route on Android MRA app?

(my current workaround is to always have few empty/dummy routes created through webpage and use MRA Android app to only modify it)

@Boštjan-Kreutz The only thing you need if you don’t have a subscription to MRA Navigation and therefore also don’t have that button in the app, is a browser that meets your expectations and with which you can create routes in Routelab on your tablet, just as you are used to doing on your desktop. If you also have a BT mouse with you, then you have everything you need. I can’t make that choice for you.

@Boštjan-Kreutz ...as @RetiredWingMan suggests: please read manuals at support page.
But as short answer: if you woul like to use MyRoute-App on Smartphone, keep in mind, usage could be limited if you did not purchase "Navigation Next" license. But generally, it should work like this:

      • open the app, goto menue, scroll down to last point "Website" / "Route lab"
      • in the next menue, tap on big button "+ New route" and enter route name etc.
      • in next view (map) enter in search field a location, city etc. and select from suggestions
this will create a first waypoint
      • enter in search field next location, city etc. and select from suggestions
this will create a next waypoint and a route will be drawn
      • then you can save the route as usually as gpx-file

@Rob-Verhoeff Thanks for that. I know that option, using Chrome browser on my Andorid Tablet and I know this works. I was just wondering how to do it in the MRA app itself, since Chrome uses to much screen space on top because of the navigation pane (cannot be hidden). And after that is also MRA webpage pane, and... it leaves too little space for the map to be useful. I know that there are also different web browsers available for andorid and some have option to display pages in full screen, but - if possible - I would not like to install another browser.

@Guzzist than you very much for your reply. I admit that I didn't check official manuals. I did't try to google-it, checked YT and also use ChatGPT, without success. Manuals never crossed my mind...

Anyhow, your reply with screens was very useful as I now see where the problem is. On my Android Tablet with MRA andorid app, I don't see the "Website - Routenlabor" option. My bottom most option is "drop/plus MRA Routeplanner". I cannot scroll that menu lower to access other option.

I don't have the tablet with me now, so I cannot check if I have any weird screen settings set on that tablet, but will surely check that later in the day.

Thanks @Hubert-Thoring. Good idea, but still just a workaround. It would be better to find a permanent HQ solution also for users how uses the android app in landscape mode.

First I learned that the menu on the left (and that menu is far to big!!!) can be scrollable, but just not with a mouse for some reason. I can use fingers on touchscreen and scroll the menu up to see that "Website - Route lab" option.

Also I checked and I did use the andorid option to enlarge screen fonts. Now I reseted it to make the fonts and icons as small as possible. I am attaching the screenshot, but it is in my local language so I hope you will still undersand 🙂
Now I get to see that "Website - Route lab" button without scrolling. But now everything else on my tablet is too small 😞

I hope that someone from the development team would recognise that the menu is just unreasonable large and organise the appropriate solution to be put in the road map for future versions.

Anyhow, I am now able to create new routes from my android app, therefore my original case is now solved.

@Boštjan-Kreutz ...strange! Because if I use also my Tablet, I can see same screen as you have shared (2 columns - left the menue, right the map).
But I'm able move the menue up towards top by my finger, until I can see the very last menue item (Website / Route lab).

@Boštjan-Kreutz said in Android app - how to create new route?:

since Chrome uses to much screen space on top because of the navigation pane (cannot be hidden). And after that is also MRA webpage pane, and... it leaves too little space for the map to be useful.

Maybe this trick is interesting for you:

                  • Open myrouteapp.com in the chrome browser on your tablet
                  • press the 3-dot menu
                  • tap "add to start screen"
                  • in the pop-up choose "Install"

This installs the webpage as an app to your android, you can add it to your icons, and it will open without that navigation bar and URL address, which save a lot of screen estate indeed. Of course you still need a live internet connection 😉

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

@Guzzist yes yes, I am able to scroll with my finger. I found this out just yesterday. I didn't notice before because I am using a BT mouse with my tablet (I find it much more precise to select waypoints with it). And scrolling and dragging with mouse works almost like on windows through most of the MRA app, I didn't even think of that it wouldn't work on the menu. But know I understand that menu scrolling only works with fingers 👆

But to be fair, when I started this post I didn't even know about the "Website - Route lab" option 🙂

I will do some more tests tomorrow but this trick opens the webpage options full screen (without top address bar). Perfect!
