Team, i gave up. I'm back at OsmAnd.
-
I came here from OsmAnd. Not sure what it was that i liked so much about MRA that made me switch. Maybe because it's dutch and so am i, but the whole missing waypoint issue is making me nervous. When i look back on my trips i did with MRA, there was literally NOT ONE where RMA followed the route without problems.
I accept that it was mostly my problem with not putting the waypoints where they need to be, but i never had this issue with OsmAnd. I create my routes on Kurviger, export them to GPX and load them into MRA, now OsmAnd, and ride them. Maybe MRA is more a route planner than a track follower where in OsmAnd the focus is on track vs. route.
Whenever RMA will be able to follow the route it planned for me (the black line) and not focus this much on finding waypoints, maybe i will come back. But for now it's OsmAnd again.See you guys on the road! Ride safe!!
Ton.

@Ton-Machielsen because MRA-Routeplanner and MyRoute-App can do a lot more as Kurviger, Calimoto and others - you will have a learning phase in the beginning!
Same, if you are coming from another App to OsmAnd. This is also not easy to understand!
Be patient, read the instructions, do some training in your neighborhood, ask the community - befor you start a journey.
I have used a lot of other tools - spend a lot of time to learn. Because non of them are comparable to others, but now I love MyRouteApp.

@Guzzist Thanks for the encouragement.
I used OsmAnd for a year or so and yes, i fell in love with MRA. But, as i said, the fact that, for whatever reason, i keep losing waypoints and it's not easy to recover from this situation (other than to stop, grab the phone, stop navigating and restart, store the phone and continue) i need to give my brain a rest and move back into my comfort zone which is OsmAnd.
Honestly, i think that OsmAnd does A LOT that i don't need and it takes a while to get things tuned in, but i have that now, so.... I actually noticed today that after 6 months not using OsmAnd i still had my config stored in their cloud, so all my old tracks, config, settings, everything except maps were still there. So that start was pretty quickly. -

@Ton-Machielsen same for me, gave up on MRA because lately its just not working as it should, or like the older versions (which worked just fine for me) and now I am back to Osmand ! It's flawless !

@Adrian-Avram I don't agree with you. Most of the erors come from user mistakes of wrong guesses. It is an easy app but like all easy apps there are a couple of rules you must follow in order for the app to work properly. It has been said, look at the videos, the vlogs for Denise or even better take a couple of classes in the MRA accademy. Thgey are free of costs and ik will help you creating and understanding MRA. Once you get the hang of it the fun starts. Until then be gentle to yourself and others.
We will help you as best as we can. -
@Marinus-van-Deudekom I think a routing app that needs an academy is a whole issue on itself. Especially with so many alternatives on the market.
OsmAnd is not an easy app either, but at least it does what people expect it to do and you only need the manual if you want it to do something special. You don’t need to need an academy for that. -
@Marinus-van-Deudekom the thing is I am not a new user, I have used this app for a year, planned 2 euro trips .... It worked fine before the last 2 updates, and I used it the same as before ! So yes, the issue is the app, not the user, in my case !

@Adrian-Avram I guess you're still wrong. The app is getting better with every update. Yes not alway perfect but if a problem occurs, like in the update 384 the team quickly repairs the fault. If you have problems ask for help and we will give it to you. A kind question will be returned with is kind answer.
As in your case the problems started with the last 2 updates, contact the devs because the rest of us don't have these problems. -
@Ton-Machielsen The app doesn't need an academy but we find it most helpfull if users help[ themselves with the provided tools te gather information.

@Marinus-van-Deudekom Probably an explanation for anything can be found always. MRA is just not for me. Either I don’t understand it or I don’t put enough effort in it, or both.
I expect it to do what all other routing software does. I’m only using it because it’s one of the few routing software that works on the CarPlay. But if until now I haven’t been able to successfully use the software for one single route, then either I am dumb, something is wrong with the software or we are just not made for each other. Simple as that.
BTW…
