@Albyus seems like an odd question. Waypoints are what makes a route "to your liking". If you are happy with what the system automatically calculates based on its settings (e.g. curvy route or not, avoid motorways or not, etc.), then all you need is a start and endpoint. Note, however, that unless you navigate using the resulting track, your navigation system is unlikely to calculate the exact same route based on only the start and endpoint.
