Recognising that I have reached my destination
-
On 80% or perhaps even more of the simple routes that I drive (just from a to b) I see the following behaviour of the myrouteapp : when i reach my destination, literally driving over it, the app doesn't tell me I reached my destination and the planned route stays active. If I then drive a bit further (eg to find a parking spot) it keeps recalculating to the destination I just reached. Really annoying if you have voice instructions on. It seems the tolerance range is set very small to acknowledge reaching the destination. Anyone else noticed this?

Hi @Afterforever666 this is by design, see here :-
https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/4595/when-you-reach-your-destination-you-have-to-cancel-navigation-manual?_=1725207417143 -
@Afterforever666 Yep, as @Brian-McG says, it's by design and I'm happy with it
-
May there are different opinions, for me not ending navigation is a bit disturbing. Very often even, with a car you began a parking routine or searchim of a parking space and youtr termination point was on the street. and then this permanent talking of route corrections you don‘t need are disturbing.
All other known Apps or Garmin stopp additional annoncemnets when final destination was reached. -
@Peter-Schiefer just end the navigation after parking
-
I see, it's by design. As a user however I find it awkward. Now, there seem to be two camps as to whether to end navigation manually or not. If there is something this fundamental that polarises your user base I think it's worth considering to make it configurable. I understand you don't want a plethora of settings like in osmand, but this is pretty fundamental.
Typically I arrive at my destination and then I don't care for the navigation anymore and I don't cancel manually. When I then leave for somewhere else it asks me to continue the route to the destination I'm long done with. That too feels awkward. -
@Afterforever666
I am with you, sometimes I feel common standards noticed by user concerns are ignored, by what reason ever.
MRA is not bad at all, but as I mentioned, some „functions“ or additional operations requested are not common and by this annoying and I believe will determine new users. Falling chance. -
I'm one of those who want navigation to continue until I turn it off. If you miss a turn or an entrance is blocked or some other issue I want assistance especially in an area I'm not familiar with. I don't want to have to fiddle with the phone.

Sorry your answer has an conflict in itself.
The request or wish was to end Navigation at the final destination.
For the final target you got one than one hint depend on your settings usually 3 announcemnts. So I and I believe you and ereyone open his eyes for the last 300 Meters. And when the voice told you „Destination reached it is at your left“ and you miss it you stop annyway and began to look arround. In my opinion also, a permanent talking Nav Sat is annoying. A blocked entry and then your Nav Sat says turn back will not open the gate. So you understand my answer perhaps.
Again you are at then of the route. normally you will find the destination you select.
Just what I had done in Libourne for our Vacation House which was inside a private ground. I check before on Street View the address and saw a Sign for this Lot and the small entrance.
MRA allows you to add pictures of such perhaps difficult to detect targets.
I had the picture in my mind and my wife was surprised when I said to her see in 100 m there is the sign we have to drive there left on our first arrival.

As a lazy pig, I also prefer that it stops automatically. Just like other navigation apps. Again, I just don't want to press anything when I stop driving. Not during a break and not on arrival at my destination. Click, phone out of the holder and order beer
-
@CD130 Cheers, that is when you're done driving
-
i always put my last waypoint on a spot were i can stop or park. simple look at streetview and set got end point and there you can simple end navigation. maybe a little more work at planning level but then it goes always safe.
-
@Marinus-van-Deudekom Yes, love it after a good day of driving
-
@Afterforever666, Ithink it is as awkward as it is futile.

Do all those apps that seemingly end their assistance before I even parked my car or bike and leave me hanging while going around the block to find a suitable spot, give you a method of changing this? I don't think so. This is a typical case of Metathesiophobia. You once got used to how Maps does it, but you will learn to like how MRA does it too. Give it a chance.

May I am too stupid to unterstand your answer, or the other way arround as I guy who knows to orientate myself without a Smartphone in my hand to find an entrance or parking lot behind the building and my POI point was on the street at the entrance of the parking.
Ubelievable.
I traveld through West Europe since I had my driver for cars license in 1970. Im appreciate the support by Nav Systems, you safe time you do not need to ask. But from 1970 to 2005 I traveled old fashioned with maps and sunshine and have a basics orientation of the EU Country, fun fact not for the British Island, but for the rest of West Eu. I always reached my targets and find back home. -
@Peter-Schiefer, yeah, you are a really great guy aren't you?
Maybe a bit stubborn too Comes with age they say -

Thank, you and Con, I am not the only one who ask Why cannot stpp navigation as other Apps do. Some request a confirmation for closing the App, Apple for sample, but all are quit, when the final destination is reached. This way of direct correcting a route and advising you verbally on a parking ground „turn left“ or whatever when the marker is for this destination in the street (as necessary) is annoying.

Reading the replies here I dare say that there is a good chunk of the user base who likes the current behavior and perhaps and equally big chunk who'd prefer it the other way. This should call for the myrouteapp app team to have a meeting how to resolve this divided user base.
