    The title says it all.

To get the correct day mode in Waze, I have to:
    Turn off Android Auto.
Erase MRA from the memory of the phone
    Relaunch Android Auto and Waze.
    Does it every time.

      What i've leaned so far.

Your light sensor (phone or AA head unit) determines if light or dark theme should be used.
      BUT.........
If your phone as a dark theme as default. The apps on Android Auto do mostly start in dark mode also. And after a restart (lunch stop i.e) it will switch to the correct mode.

When your phone has the light mode as default, AA will start during the day always in light mode and at night mostly in Dark mode.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)

In the MRA app the light sensor is not used.
On a AA/CP unit I don't know, but my guess is that the app dictates the map theme, and therefore probably also the headunit sensor is not used.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

In AA. The light sensor does it's job. At least on my Goldwing. It has a light sensor in the top corner of the dashboard. When it becomes dark enough, like in dark woods. The map goes to night mode. And back again when it is light enough.
I saw it also in heavy rain with pretty dark clouds.

Just like i told before. If the AA/ACP part is programmed in the correct way by the vehicle or device company. The sensors of the Headunit are used over the sensors of the phone.

            Hum, I don't think so.
Otherwise, why would this behaviour not occur with Maps? Or other apps?

Try light mode and report back to this forum.
I've tried dark and light mode as default. Changing the default mode changed the behaviour.

Yes Google maps does not do this (almost never).
MRA and TomTom Go both do this. I do not use Waze very much. But according to your statement. It can also have this effect.

This makes it clear that the software also has some influence. And i won't be suprised if the AA/ACP headunit itself will also have some effect.
Google Maps comes from the same very big company as Android (Auto). They have a lot of manpower to fix these kind of things. A lot of people use Maps as their primairy navigation software. This means a lot of feedback. TomTom Go and certainly MRA have a much smaller userbase. This mean a lot less feedback.

I suspect MRA is mostly used on motorcycles. Motorcycles and AA/ACP not (yet) very common. Compared to cars.

I have seen this behavior also in GMaps. It suddenly switches to nightmode in clear view of daylight. And when I am not using MRA at all. And certainly not in nightmode and I don't use dark themes on my phone ever.
