MRA Next vs CarPlay
-
Does CarPlay support all the features of the MRA Next app on the phone? Particularly interested if the detailed graphical lane guidance is available in CarPlay. Thanks!

@Ron-Z
The answer is generally no. There are some tings that can't be replicated to CarPlay, due to technical restrictions, but I don't that that the detailed lane guidance is a problem. But to be honest I don't know that exactly
Sorry for that, but I am sure here are some guys who know this exactly.Greetings

@TomOnTour I really like the detailed lane guidance the app provides, this is very similar to what the Garmin GPS devices do. Maybe this is a case to get a rugged Android tablet to have the app working on a bigger screen.

Lane guidance is possible in Carplay but it needs to programmed in the app. I don't know if MRA programmed this. I use MRA (nearly) only on roads where lane guidance is not available.
In general.
Many visual only elements are allowed (lane guidance is a visual element)
Many interactive elements are not allowed. Because Apple and Google see these as a safety risk. -
@M-Schrijver As far as I understand it's not MRA not wanting to add it but there were legal restrictions stating that the detailed lane assist is noit allowed

I have lane assistance in TomTom on Android Auto. So i'm pretty conviced it works in Carplay also. Both Apple and Google have more or less the same restrictions.
If lane assistance works in the app. It will not automaticly also work in AA and ACP. It all depends how the code is written.

@M-Schrijver OK maybe @Corjan-Meijerink can tell why it's not in case of MRA

The MRA app offers "Lane assistance":
and "Detailed lane assistance":
I think @Ron-Z just wants to know if the latter is also offered in carplay. I don't know that, since I have no Carplay. I only know that an active internet connection is need for the detailed lane assistance. But let's not make the question more difficult than necessary. I am sure someone with carplay experience can provide the simple yes or no answer.

@Con-Hennekens In CarPlay, only “Lane Assistance” works, not “Detailed Lane Assistance.”
